When I played Awakening, I was acutally really excited to uncover the backstory about the "children," sapient darkspawn, the Architect, etc. For all the importations that came from Awakening to DA2 (*cough* Anders *cough*), I kinda felt annoyed that these darkspawn (just the sapient ones, not the "new" darkspawn - those cicada looking things) were sort of swept under the rug, and only referenced in Nathaniel's Act 3 quest or Legacy (when Anders mentions encountering the Architect).

I was wondering if that was just going to be left hanging as some sideplot to the larger DA universe of if it will show up in a meaningful way again. I feel like the fact that the Architect (which may an equivalent of Corypheus) causing the Fifth Blight, and the whole "darkspawn who reason" bit should feature prominently somewhere. I am just thinking that we could lose the opportunity for a great addendum to the ever-present darkspawn story under the Mage-Templar stuff, even if I get the fact that they can't really do DA3: Another Blight.

Its a thing for sure. Legacy was my favourite mission DLC probably for any of BioWare's games that I've played. Warden's Keep coming in at a close second.

I'm sure we'll still have some darkspawn related missions but I wouldn't expect too much at this point as you mentioned as the perception is to be all Mage/Templar stuff.

Maybe for DA4 we're in Tevinter and we learn more about the old gods and ancient magisters and the black city and the golden city and how the darkspawn came to be. That could be a way to get back to it.

The Children are the cicada things. If you mean intelligent darkspawn in general, you're thinking of Disciples.

I know, I noted that Nathaniel spoke of the sapient darkspawn (diciples) but you hear nothing more about the cicada-looking "Children" (the supposedly "new" darkspawn)

I certainly agree with how intriguing you found the whole Architect/Disciple thing. "Dragon Age: The Calling" delves a little more into the psyche of the Architect, though not as much as I expected. I have a feeling that this thread will definitely get picked up in future games. (At least I hope so.) Maybe this is a way for a darkspawn threat without an archdemon or Blight, which I guess was at the center of DA:Awakenings, come to think of it.

I'd love to see the Architect and the Disciples return. I wouldn't mind a Disciple companion to fight alongside. Maybe Disciple similar to the Broodmother's minions for an evil party or that good Disciple you can spare in Awakening.

I want to see the Architect as well (if spared)
I used to spare him till I read "The Calling"...

Won't the disciple spread the blight if they are in your party ?
And if they don't, where are they going to live w/o scaring the crap out of everyone

It's too bad that the Composer of DA2:L basically took the role of the Architect.
