I just don't know which computer to get.
Would it probably be better and cheaper if I got someone to MAKE me a computer?
It honestly doesn't have to look pretty, it just has to perform well. I can make it look pretty later.
I would like some reviews on the PC versions.
Are they better than console in your opinion? In what ways? What kind of awesome mods can you get?
I myself am more into asthetic mods than cheating mods. Cheating just sounds... dirty 8c I already have a bad guilt conscience when it comes to this series, I don't need to add cheating onto it.

Personally, I vastly prefer the PC versions of all three due to the visual improvements, along with the (in most cases) superior useability as a result of the keyboard and mouse setup. I might be somewhat biased here, however, as I somewhat dislike the control scheme and input methods used on most consoles.

Loading times are vastly superior on PC compared to consoles; this does depend though on your PC. To me this was the most annoying difference between the PC and PS3 versions of the games. Going between decks on the Normandy took half a minute on the PS3. On my PC it was near instantaneous.
Visually, PC is better. There are many tweaks and texmods you can use to further enhance the in game visuals.
Controls are a player preference. I prefer a keyboard and mouse over a controller. Hotkeys however, are a distinct advantage on PC for quick use of powers without having to pause the combat.
The mako to me handled fine in ME1. Xbox 360 players though seem to agree it had very poor handling though.
No auto aim on the PC versions. This to me is helpful because I do not have the game guessing at what I want to shoot at. Many times the game auto aims at one target when I was aiming at another.

I like to assemble my own pc so at least I demand a choice in accessories. Pc is more versitile in costomazation hard/ and software wise.
So I think it is more a choice of ease of use and willingness of spenditure. Consoles are easy to use and have a more fixed spenditure.

1) What is my absolute maximum budget?
2) What, as a minimum, must my PC be able to do?
Once you have this info, pick the parts to build your minimum PC. With a DECENT PSU, for God's sake don't cut corners here! A decent PSU in the UK should cost around £100. Sexy it ain't, but a good PSU will save you a lot of annoying little instabilities later. Don't buy the cheapest motherboards either if you want a smooth ride. Choose a reasonable ASUS motherboard without integrated video for a safe-ish bet.
Now, having selected your minimum PC, and knowing your maximum budget, you can decide what bells and whistles you want to splurge on to beef up your system. Remember, the better you buy, the longer it will last before needing an upgrade.
For ideal sound (after a bit of tweaking...) in ME1, you'll need a Creative sound card. I recommend an old second hand Audigy 2 if you can find one (NOT and Audigy, an Audigy 2 is very different). Otherwise, one of the better quality of their current range of cards might work. I haven't tried them. They may not though, as audio has gone all OpenAL now. The A2 does both old style EAX hardware accel and new style OpenAL hardware sound. It was produced at the perfect moment to get compatibility with old games and new.
Otherwise, ME1 won't be in surround and will lack reverb effects. It'll still be fun in stereo though.

I have only played ME1 on PC. ME2 and ME3 I have played on PC and PS3. I agree that the UI, especially in the first game, is better on the PC versions.
