Was it ever asked why we didn't have the option to make Anders Tranquil at the end of act 3? Just wondering. I would have liked to have had that option.

It has been asked before, but we were never given an answer.
I always got the impression that the Rite of Tranquility required considerable preparation and resources. Based on the number of tranquil we see around Kirkwall and the frequency of its use, I'd say that the Gallows was well stocked with the necessary supplies, but time may have been a consideration. I have trouble imagining the templars putting the Annulment on hold while they assembled the reagents and staff necessary to perform the rite. At the end of the day, Meredith did not really care what happened to Anders. She wanted an excuse to execute the Right of Annulment on the Circle, and Anders provided it. Most non-mages consider Tranquility a lesser punishment than death. Hordes of neutral-faced tranquil speaking in monotones would not have been as satisfying emotionally as beholding a pile of bodies. As for allowing the protagonist the opportunity to perform the rite on Anders alone, we're back to time and resources. Meredith probably felt that an expedient death was all he deserved.

Also: as long as Justice is inside Anders, it's highly unlikely he can be cut off from the fade.

Good point, Septimus, especially when you consider the events of Asunder.

Still to give a try. It wasn't even brought up in the game. It just seemed odd to me is all.

Time is sort of a factor and the Rite of Tranquility is implied to not be a free action.

Assuming that it would even work on an abomination and assuming you could find out how to perform it, what purpose would there be in using the Rite of Tranquility on Anders when you can just kill him?
