I've only been in games with a handful of people with the Lone Wolf banner... but good grief.

First time I thought, "Ah hah, Lone Wolf, someone who knows what they're doing - good oh" ... now I'm beginning to suspect Lone Wolf means "I am going to Rambo it, fall over and get stomped on before the team can get to me and then, when I fail to top the scoreboard, quit as soon as the match is over".

Recently I've pretty much just been playing Krogan - I'll admit it, running around going MMMWWRRAAAWWWWWW is probably my favourite thing in the game at the moment. So I'm in a U/U/G lobby as a Kroldier and a Lone Wolf joins playing as a GI, turns out to be Cerberus/Jade ... and I can't remember the last time I've had to pick someone up so many times.

He wasn't bad at outputting damage and clocking up points (he was a GI after all) but he just sat on "Suicide Bridge" and kept getting killed... he did get a decent level of points to be fair, about 80k, second on the scoreboard.

Next game he stuck with it, I switched to Krentinel, he switched to Turian Ghost... Vancouver/Reapers; I swear he only made it to the end of about 2 rounds without getting either synch-killed or stomped on by a Marauder... he finished third on the scoreboard. As soon as we complete the mission, he quits.

Am I just having bad luck with "Lone Wolves" or is it really a "Warning: suicidal Rambo" flag?

If you have the lone wolf banner, that means you solo'd platinum. Anyone that can solo platinum is a good player. My guess is a roommate or friend was playing his profile.

I actually did it myself, i dont trust anyone else's computer any longer. Have lost alot of accounts by playing when im at a friends house.

Everyone has a bad day every now and then. My point is, anyone that can solo platinum is easily a solid player...period! Congrats on your lone wolf!!!

Apparently you didn't read that post that said that you can get lone wolf WITHOUt playing platinum at all. You can be an average player and solo gold with a kroguard against the geth at least.

Adn this right here, is what I think is the biggest "offense" to certain players of this banner.  That it is sending a wrong message in a MP game that is supposed to be cooperative.   And with reasons you stated, along with some others who have posted, it really seems to put that player with the banner in a negative light to quite few.

I've got a banner... and I can get Lone Wolf any time I want... I'm already over halfway there.. I just don't really enjoy playing solo. The thing about it is... if I am playing by myself, I will take a long time to make sure I don't get hit. It prolongs playtime. When I'm playing with a group, usually I take some liberties and chances in order to deal more damage, and this frequently gets me killed. I only do this because I know people can revive me, especially on Silver. On Gold, I try not to die as much though because it is much harder to revive people in most situations on higher difficulties. Whether they like it or not though, it's a team game, and reviving other players is part of it. In any case, who doesn't mind reviving... you still get points for that too.... But I can absolutely understand people getting frustrated if it keeps happening on a Gold/Platinum match.

I'm sorry guys, I don't mean to generalize you by those three people, but it's just that I've only seen three or so people with the banner. It isn't JUST people with the banner, and there have been plenty of others without it displayed (whether they have it or not, and even before the were in the game) that have acted the same way and their play style has always been the same. They're either going off trying to play a lone wolf apart from the rest of us and screwing things over for us or actively disrupting team synergy so they can put themselves as number one. That isn't the way I play a team game and I don't appreciate people playing that way in my games. And a banner proclaiming that it is highly probable that you play that way is a red flag to me.

Not true at all!!!

I did my 1st gold solo a couple of days ago to see if I could make it. It wasn't that bad, just required some patience. It has made me a better player. I am now comfortable if left alone on gold.
I am all about being a team player and would rather as a team. I am not concerned with my "kills" and will do whatever is necessary for my team to succeed always!!!

So do you have to solo platinum for the lone wolf banner or just 2 golds, 5 silver, 10 bronze?
I can handle the gold, the platinum just takes way, way too much patience.

You can do three of the four challenges. I did that, but later i did platinum anyways because im a completionist. (kinda)

Also, i got the lone wolf banner because i like it. Going to switch to death guard soon though. I was so close, but now i'll have to kill thousands of husks :(

So yeah I have been kicked for my LW banner before and I have had people leave before. It's funny how someone mentioned the Ghost because lately that's what I play in PUGs.

However I would like to point something out. When I play it is ALL about team play. I have 92/100 First Aid medals done. If I see you shooting a mook I will shoot it till it has 1 bar health then I walk away so you get the kill. If I see you cast something I can fiire explode for you I will stop shooting my main target just so I can cast an overload on your target so you get a nice fire explosion. I always hang back with the team, I always revive and I always help the rest of the team do what they have to do.

Matter of fact I am sure I have done plenty of matches where I walked around and got 75% of the enemies down to 1 health bar and just simply walked away so others could get kills. I do not care about points when we are playing MP. I just want my credits so I can buy more stuff. Not all people with LW, or banners in general, are non team players.

Glad to say as of yesterday I joined the Lone wolf club.

After many trial and error solo gold runs I managed to beat gold reapers with a SE on White.

Well placed decoys in doorways saved my booty a dozen times each wave lol

It's just as much his game as it is your game. Never expect other people to babysit you in a gold or plat pug game. Some games I'll fly around reviving people left and right. Other games I don't give a ****. You can pick eachother up or bleed out, either way I'll be on the opposite side of the map far away from your campsite.

There are plenty of good lone wolf players but I dont like playing with them. I find they have a tendancy to be off on their own all the time, even more so on objective waves and leaving the rest of the team holding the bag.

I welcome the skillful kills they can do but not the attitude that I see a lot of the time with them. And yes there are plenty who work well with others but in general I see a lot more of them on their own not supporting their teammates in a firefight than not.

And sure you can argue they are supporting the team by killing things but there is more to support than just that. rezing, setting up dets, cover fire.... all sorts of things that should be done that they just cant do from across the map.

I dont care if they have the highest score, if they arent playing as part of the team I have no use for them in my lobbies.

Don't understand people like that as I've told my friends soon as I get the Turian ghost I'm solo'ing gold non-stop

You don't have a turian ghost and you think you'll solo gold when you get one?  LOL

I have a GI and an N7 destroyer. I solo gold quite often, sometimes even with a justicar that I love playing.

The Turian ghost is currently the best class in the game for how I want to play

This is funny you guys should mention this. I had a similar situation yesterday. I hop on and get an invite from a friend. So i accept it and join the party and game. My character gets loaded in (i just grabbed teh ghost which was equipped with my harrier X) I didn't really pay attention becuase Before i played i was going into the store to buy my krogan shaman. So as i'm buying packs one of the guys (a freind of my friend) starts telling me where i'm gonna stand what wepaons to sue asking if i'm gonna put consumables on and trying to device this whole plan. So to be fair I told him I honestly don't feel like sitting in one spot all game its boring, i'm gonna run around and kill stuff and if its not cool then w/e i'll go find a different game. He says in a condescending tone fine but when you die i'm not coming out there to revive your ass. All in all the whole thing got on my nerves. anyway it was taking so long due to connection issues to get all 4 people loaded in. becuase said guy couldn't onnect to my friend and vice versa. so he walked away while redied up but didn't tell anyone. so my other friend made a new lobby and we were like ok we'll all jump in his and see if everyone can connect. so we do. Except said person who was AFK and dind't say anything. Then he came back and started complaining how we "got him thrown into a gold game by himself" So my friend asked if I wanted to do a platinum and I was liek yeah that fine but not if he's (refering to said guy) is gonna bring his geth puls rifle to which he replied why do you have to be a dick about it. I was using it for the challenge. and i was liek don't take it personal but as soon as i came in the party you were trying to tell me how to play and what to use. suffice it to say he left teh party and didn't accept our game invites

In my experience, Lone Wolves have been solid to good players. Matter of fact, anyone with a banner has been, at the very least, decent so far

I agree. Kroguard or no Kroguard, nobody who isn't at least decent is going to solo Gold.

That "Lone Wolf" hanging around the containers in Rio and never popping his head out to do any of the objectives is just so awesome tho.

Spot on!

The reason the challenge is the quickest/easiest to do (assuming you can solo gold a couple of times - which many of us can't) is because it's kind of contrary to the whole idea of the game. It's just there as a little added extra because the devs know some people do it. OK, you got lone wolf. Big wow. It's not going to convince anyone you're automatically going to be good on their squad.

As if it's his responsibility to kill things slower because his teammates can't keep up.

In my opinion it's spot off.

You guys read way, way too much into the banners. I'm not literally a Mathemagician or a Death Guard. You should see my banners and think nothing more than, "This guy spammed lots of Engineer powers and killed lots of Reapers to get those."

Almost all players know that some people will do solo runs to challenge themselves, or to try to improve their skills. The only message the banner sends is that the player did a certain amount of solo runs on various difficulties to get the banner. Whether or not that player plays nice with others is completely unrelated.

If he's on Gold+ I'm with you.

If you're nuking the universe on every wave on Silver or Bronze, perhaps you should play on a difficulty that's more your level instead of ruining it for less experienced players.

It's hit and miss when it comes to that. Either they are really good team players that can solo or just solo better since they have nobody to rely on...either that or they were a glitcher in solo lol

I like using the banner because it sends a very clear message that I'm not going to babysit other players.

I actually wish I had run into more people with the banner, as it's a basic sign of competency. (the other being high level weapons/gear which is reliable)
