I've noticed that Lone Wolf banners seem to indicate that the player is going to focus on damage output alone while letting everyone else do the objectives and reviving.

That seems odd... when you're alone, no one else is there to do the objectives. You sure you haven't just seen like 2 people with the banner and decided that this is how all 'Lone Wolf' banner holders are?

I agree...I'm a lone wofler and I do the majority of objectives.

I also carry a lot, which has been amusing since I've been using crappy SRs to get my sniper banner.

When did soloing gold~platinum become "skilled" besides being what it actually is, running around the map for almost an hour killing mooks/ sub bosses until your down to the bosses. There is not more skill involved in soloing than any other squadplay besides combining shots and powers.

People need to stop being starstruck over simple things. Congrats to the people that solo, but if I wanted to play by myself for a long period of time, I'd play singleplayer.

I've only been in games with a handful of people with the Lone Wolf banner... but good grief.

First time I thought, "Ah hah, Lone Wolf, someone who knows what they're doing - good oh" ... now I'm beginning to suspect Lone Wolf means "I am going to Rambo it, fall over and get stomped on before the team can get to me and then, when I fail to top the scoreboard, quit as soon as the match is over".

Recently I've pretty much just been playing Krogan - I'll admit it, running around going MMMWWRRAAAWWWWWW is probably my favourite thing in the game at the moment. So I'm in a U/U/G lobby as a Kroldier and a Lone Wolf joins playing as a GI, turns out to be Cerberus/Jade ... and I can't remember the last time I've had to pick someone up so many times.

He wasn't bad at outputting damage and clocking up points (he was a GI after all) but he just sat on "Suicide Bridge" and kept getting killed... he did get a decent level of points to be fair, about 80k, second on the scoreboard.

Next game he stuck with it, I switched to Krentinel, he switched to Turian Ghost... Vancouver/Reapers; I swear he only made it to the end of about 2 rounds without getting either synch-killed or stomped on by a Marauder... he finished third on the scoreboard. As soon as we complete the mission, he quits.

Am I just having bad luck with "Lone Wolves" or is it really a "Warning: suicidal Rambo" flag?

if you see me in your lobby it's a instawin

I haven't said anything about a certainty of player quality. It's just what I've noticed thus far. I can see the the mentality behind what I've noticed. When solo, you have to do high DPS while also juggling objectives. In team games, you can just focus on spawn killing, etc. The objectives are only a hinderance to your slaying and your teammates can do that extra objective stuff.

i solo'ed platinum on giant with a turian ghost and the raider x and acolyte, it was easy to funnel all the enemies in the lz and then around the map into the back room of the fortress, the objective rounds were hard in some of my first few attempts like drone escort, but with duration cloak and stim packs ( lol) i did it on my fifth try. playing platinum with random people is way harder than solo runs with a build like that.

I was wary of the Lone Wolf banner for the first little while, because of the exploit that could be used to achieve it initially. But as more time passes, and more people unlock the banner, I get less concerned about that.

I haven't seen any superbly fantastic Lone Wolves, but I haven't seen any bad ones either.

Eh.. the easiest solo is obviously Kroguard vs. Geth, and Kroguard isn't really a high DPS class. Survivability is a bigger issue, a lot of the time. On my non-Kroguard solos, most of the match consisted of funelling enemies into one area and sort of combining taking shots at them and retreating. Staying alive is the big thing. High damage output can make things go faster, but at least for me, it's a very defensively-minded thing. It's more patience than mook slayage.

Probably completely different for people that can actually solo well (only my silver/bronze solos were U/U and with a less invincible class). Also, the Ghost infiltrator has both amazing survivability and fantastic damage output, so I guess that's sort of different.

I've come across people who wipe at the start of a wave, don't gel and leave me to solo the rest of the wave. They get bored after more than 2 minutes and just rage quit. Now that's annoying.

The lonewolf bashing going on in this thread is completely ironic to me. I thought that it would be a point of pride for people, but apparently it isn't.

I personally wear mine with pride because I had done plenty of bronze and silver solo attempts in the past, but I never would have dreamed that I could solo gold. The elitists can hack at that comment all they want, I don't care.

As someone who mostly plays silver games instead of gold with pugs, its an accomplishment for me. It is in no way reflective of how I play with groups. I stay around my team, I revive when I can, I shoot that mob coming up to my unsuspecting teammate, and I am typically the first person to the objective. So please, keep bashing... Stay classy San Diego.

I just realized that since this is the fastest and easiest banner to get, many of the players that top the challenge scoreboard have done this challenge multiple times, and not many others.

These people that participate in this E-Peen measuring contest are the majority of those that have the lone-wolf banner, thus the lousy team-play, and focus on points during normal matches. That's my theory at least.

NucularPiknik is right. Most lone wolfs i come across nowadays usually focuses on damage output. Also, whenever i try volus i get kicked and that's really frustrating.

If it was so fast and easy to get, then every PUGer would have one by now.

Fast and easy for the Epeen-preening crowd, not for the average joe schmoe.

Soloed gold on krogaurd when I was around 5K, never tryed platinum because gold taught me....(hmm did I really just spend 50 minutes soloing the same amount of money I could get in ~20~30 if I played with randoms) That was also before I had the "kite and kill mooks" strategy, I use now when everyone is dead in the wave besides me. Soloing takes no more skill than playing with randoms, just takes longer.
