I own Dragon Age: Origins (Ultimate Edition) and 2 on sale for PC a while ago. Previously I would have bought the console version, but instead got the PC versions. I'm looking forward to DA3 and am wondering if I should buy it on consoles or PC? I only ask because I prefer consoles but wanna continue the story. I'm at a standstill on which version to buy?

If your PC can handle it, I'd go with PC every time.

LIke DA2 there will only be minor differences in UI and graphics (I'm assuming), I doubt they are going to make a real PC version, so just get what platform you prefer.

I favor PC when available, because of the increased control over tweaking performance and the potential for fan-patches to bugs that are left unresolved by the developers. And graphics mods.

I prefer playing on console, too... if you really prefer that, both games are pretty cheap now. You could get them both for like forty bucks for xbox or PS3.

I love playing single player games on consoles, but Dragon Age really benefits from the keyboard. Having the very limited hotkeys on the console controller really changes the gameplay experience of DA. However, if you are like me, and just blazing through the combat sections on casual difficulty to enjoy the story and characters, then I would say, go for console.

PC. If you buy on console, you depend on the developers if there are bugs or other flaws.

It would help to know why you prefer consoles in the first place.

If you already got the PC versions, you may as well stick with DA3 for imports.

I choose PC just because I can get mods for the game.

If importing your savegames is important to you, then you will need to buy the PC version, or re-buy both games on console and play through again - this is a choice about time and money. If importing isn't important, then buy on the platform you prefer.

Simples.

Looks like I'm getting the PC version (due to most people here saying PC). Might as well since yes importing my save game is important. Thanks for the recommendations guys.

It's probably going to be released right around the launch of the next consoles in Q4 2013.

I'm guessing they will be rather expensive at launch.

PC if you're willing to either deal with or work around a likely Origin requirement. It's also handy for modding.

Console if you don't wanna deal with that whole mess.

With DA3 likely requiring origin to run, and EA's dumb policy against modding, I doubt we'll have that benefit for much longer. If you don't simply crack your game to run without origin that is.

I've played them on both and I can say 100% it plays MUCH better on PC.

The console version is a mess. You can't even slide tactics over another one. You actually have to delete them just to prioritize one. And that's only one flaw with the console versions...

Not to mention, you get mod support like advanced tactics on PC. DAO was made for PC, IMO. DA2 was made more for consoles. Either way, they both play superior on PC.

ME3 can be modded (somewhat), and the official line on that has been that it's ok as long as it doesn't give you an advantage in MP.  I don't think they'll throw a hissy fit over DA3 modding.

Origin is another story.  I agree that DA3's likely to be Origin-exclusive.  We'll just have to wait for someone to rectify that.

I haven't encountered this first hand nor can I verify the source but I heard about several people being banned from Origin for playing multiplayer with a modded file (even if that file only modded some single player stuff).

A thread about this was kept up for a long time until one day it was mysteriously taken down. I don't think we ever got a definitive answer if a modded file could result in a ban.

Not true. You can reprioritise tactics in both DAO and DA2 on console. Click the number to "grab" the tactic, then move it up or down and click again to let go when it's in the place you want it.

DAO is superior on PC, no doubt. With DA2 it's fine on both, really.

Not sure what will import into what. Go with the same plaform as the DAs you already own to be safe if you want imports.

If you prefer console, I'd say go with that. Importing saves may not even turn out to be an issue.

That's completely unnecessary, just stop it.
And I say this as a PC gamer.
