Disappointed with the Krogan Shaman

Because they both have heavy delays between activation and effect, and the Drell has notoriously low defenses. He was able to work as an adept and vanguard because his powers aided his defenses (Biotic Charge and Reave) and all are fast trigger abilities.

The Drell Infiltrator lacks any defense augmentations, has slow to activate abilities, one which leaves him exposed for a long time, and Tac Cloak which inhibits shield recharge. As well, if you want to do any noticeable damage with his powers, you'll have to sacrifice fitness even more.


I think I'm going to at least try a build skipping grenades.  I'll use recon mine as a stationary tac scan and go to work with a harrier/claymore/javelin etc.

Plus, rolling the recon mine cd into tac cloak should give you a much faster turnaround on detonations, if that's the way you want to do it.

I don't dislike the krodept, but I'd rather have combat roll+singularity then barrier+native tankiness.

Well Barrier, Warp, Shockwave, Throw, these four are the most elementary biotic powers, and it is not hard to understand why Bioware gives the 3 to it. It may be quite disappointing for many people, for not having a unique power, but come on dude it's just a Gold character, not UR.

Throw?  I like the idea of a melee krogan with the option to thow opponent around.

I'd replace shockwave with clusters.  That gives him an off-cooldown damage source, making barrier/cluster BE's a very legit CQ damage source and also let's him be a heavy weapon adept.  So:

Barrier
Throw
Clusters
Claymore.

How's that?

So getting your shields back from a power during melee is too broken for a krogan but just fine for an asari with way more mobility.

Drell Infiltrator disappointing? How is recon mine, tactical cloak and homing grenades disappointing? That sounds epic.

A) Who said the asari sentinal was fine?  I'll wait on judging that one until they release it.

B) Besides, Krogans have lots more base shields, lots more potential damage resistance due to Rage and highly effective melee attacks.  Barrier / CM-IV / Rage / Annihilation Field.  OMG.

Apparently AoE melee + AoE shield gain power + DR power that increases power damage and and a dodge based on SHIELDS eludes you.

Slam instead of Warp would have been excellent. BioWare, you don't need to create all new powers for your characters, but even just one would have been great.

The Drell Infiltrator is clearly supposed to be some sort of super anti-armor character. Wait for an armored enemy to enter the Recon Mine's invasive scan, shoot the Homing Grenade for the debuff, stacking it with RM's debuff, and snipe it. I might rock 4/6/6/4/6 and the Widow.

This is the only issue I have with him right now, since the smaller radius shockwave is annoying when trying to detonate explosions (and well, you can't go radius unless you want Shockwave to bug out).

At any rate, I had a blast playing my Krogan Shaman last night, Adrenaline Module really helps him (fast biotic tank is better than a slow biotic heavy tank for me).

@xaijin: eludes me? Cute. I have no idea whether she'll be a cq force or fail. I'm not really interested in figuring it right now and I can't take you very seriously though if you're advertising her heavy melee as a feature. It's not currently a part of any sound strategy and for good reason. Maybe that will change when we get the asstinel.

Biowares not going to change the krodept anyway, so all the power ideas are just for giggles.

It's only the rank 4 radius upgrade. If you take that upgrade, Shockwave eventually stops working midway through the game. You will still see the animation, but it will do nothing to enemies.

Recon mine is cast near instantly, it only takes a few seconds to activate. You can move around between firing it off and it becoming active. If homing grenade behaves like other grenades then it won't break cloak, which makes its cast time irrelevant.

A lot of these new characters do seem really boring and uninspired on paper. The krogan shame-man has a decent skillset but the character is incredibly generic and boring, basically a tanky human adept without singularity.

The geth pyro really takes the cake, 2 passive skills that are allready in the game and flamer? Come on. They could have done so much better with that guy. Give him defence matrix, flamer and a power to detonate flamer and you'd have an awesome character but flamer, fortification and hunter mode, really? I'll reserve judgement untill it's been released but on paper it looks retarded.

I've never actually tried that evolution but I have heard it doesn't do anything more than a few times. Though the Shockwave issue is much bigger, given it kills the entire power (unless the lifting rank 6 kills it entirely too? :blink:)
