At this point, I feel it would've been better if I had been introduced to Mass Effect next year...

All or at least most of the ME3 SP dlc will have been released, the EC exists, and my expectations will have begun at base level.

It could have saved me all of the time and energy I wasted waiting for an amazing trilogy to complete itself only to be given something that resembles a half-finished product in the second half of the final game, of which I find myself still waiting and hoping for an adequate expansion through DLC.

So yes, I would still buy ME3... after it was finished. Leaving it in this obviously rushed state is just insulting.

This is why I'm hoping the rumors for "Project X" are true.

No.

I would have eventually purchased it (maybe next year sometime, after all the DLC) when the price fell to around $10 or less.

Since there are no time machines, I'll simply be keeping this firmly in mind for the next game they try to sell.

But we don't need a time machine to be forewarned of future products from this team or for this franchise. Likely, I'll be holding out for that magic $19.99 price point for the next one (if ME3 is any judge, it won't be all that long to wait).

Mass Effect games generally drop in price pretty quick.

Taken as a whole, the ME Trilogy is the best game I've ever played. I think ME3 saved the series from where ME2 was going, so yeah, I would not hesitate a second to buy it again, knowing what I know now.

This from knowing the one ending I've experienced so far and that there are several different endings depending on how much resources etc you've managed to gather before the final battle. I've been careful not to read about exactly what kind of endings which are available, as I don't want to spoil the ending for the next character I have in store (I'd appreciate it if no-one decides to enumerate them as a response to my post here), but the setup itself suggests to me that you're bound to get more disappointing endings the less resources etc you bother to gather. Meaning that the gamer has the power to avoid the worst scenarios. The character may die in all of them, which could of course be a terrible disappointment and game-destroyer alone to some people, but how he or she does it, and the results from doing so may be very different, and some of those varieties could be acceptable to some other people. Like me. In our culture, dying like a hero is usually considered the most acceptable form of death, and in the first ending of this game my character did just that: she sacrificed herself to save all her friends and the rest of the galaxy. I call that an epic ending, far more emotional and memorable than one in which she survived would have been. I also found it fitting intellectually that to defeat such a formidable enemy as the Reapers, the ultimate sacrifice was necessary.

Just like so often in real wars.

PS. Should anyone be interested in the full story of the above character, se post #2 in this thread for starters.

If I knew someone with a Time Machine, I would go back in time to show Drew Karpyshawn the reaction BSN, Youtube, and the internet had to ME3 when Mac & Casey took hold.

That said, IDK OP. What would have been better? Experiencing a game that is 90% amazing only to have 10% epic/utter fail that damn near crushes your inner child or not experiencing it at all?

I still get mad about that "buy more dlc" message pre EC

Yeah, this pretty much sums it up for me; even down to the "buy DLC" message.  I think I'd rather not go back.

But of course, you'd still be perfectly willing to spend hours on the BSN discussing it.

Well there is a different kind of interaction when comparing playing a video game vs interacting with people on a forum community.

I kinda like the community here. Sure I have been told I'm stupid, ignorant, annoying, and a whole bunch of other insults. but hey that is the internet for you.

Wait, why would I buy the game after I already finished it multiple times? I mean, if I went back in time I'd still have my memories of playing it, wouldn't I?

Name me one real war. People either end up dead or, if they make a big difference, come through it alive. There have been zero wars instantly won by someone's heroic sacrifice.

Honestly...no....since buying Mass3 CE,I've played SP once and have been playing MP just to get my money's worth.....in fact I've been replaying Mass2.

Mass3 has changed the way I now buy games.....I'm pretty sick of being one of those people who pre orders a game, pay's full price, pay's for DLC only to see the same game for less than half price 4 months later and by the end of the year up pops the game of the year edition.......as a loyal, supportive gamer I pretty much feel like I'm being taken for a mug these day's by the general gaming industry.

I'm not going to directly blame MASS3 for my change of heart but it was the last straw, the ending controversy highlighted how one of the most respected developers/franchises can fall victim to the money machine.........the game was release unfinished in my opinion and Bioware/EA then expects me to pay more to see Mass3 completed.....no chance.

No, I would not have purchased ME3 if I'd known in advance how bad this was going to be. I would've just headcanon'd the whole thing, like I was expected to by Casey and Mac. Save myself time and a huge disappointment.

Might've watched the Youtube for the cool scenes and call it a day. There is nothing redeeming about a half finished game that has no intention of finishing the trilogy before moving on.

Eh, this is one of the more fun forums I've been on. I don't really stick around for the game, but for the people here.

Say you met this person who had a time machine. He sends you back to March 5th. Would you cancel your pre-order? Would you not go to the midnight release? Would you not buy it the next day?

I personally would wait until it was half off. It's the economical decision and they're releasing the whole trilogy for $75, so yeah. I paid $20 each for the first two and if I paid $30 for this one it would've added up perfectly.

I would still buy it for xbox, but I sure as hell would not have ever bought it for my pc.  Not because of the endings though, but because of the fact that I've given up playing the one on my pc because I constantly have to have internet connection to play SP because of DLC authorization, and my work keeps me moving around and internet scarce.

Mass Effect Trilogy helped me to break free from all those MMOs and Action games. It helped me to remember good old sci-fi books which I enjoyed so much.

So, knowing everything I would still buy digital deluxe eddition of ME3. For me the entire Trilogy is the best Story of all times.
