I don't want any DLC. I want a complete game on the day of release. The fact that this thread exists before the game has even been released means that we as gamers have accepted that we'll be paying extra for content that exists on release day but was not implemented before printing.

I'd rather wait an extra year and have the developers finish the game before shipping it.

I absolutely second this, and the post after it.
No DLC is good DLC!!

The whole ending of the game. I want them to not rush themselves and just put out the part of the game they finished at deadline and continue working on the rest as "a free dlc"

It never, ever stops baffling me how and why would anyone want to pay real money for armor and weapons for single player game.

1. A stronghold/city builder; add some resource gathering/strategic elements to the gameplay. (I would like a more well fleshed-out version of the Awakenings rendition of 'strongholding,'  thus, I would be willing to pay extra for a higher-quality feature).

2. Epic companion sidequests. (One within the continuity of the main game)

3. Dwarven Noblewoman Ally. (Lady Helmi, perhaps?)

Clerk: Okay, that's a combo meal with small fries and drink. Would you like to add a slice of apple pie?

BSNer: The apple pie doesn't come with the meal?

Clerk: The combo meal is a hamburger with fries and a drink. The apple pie is only 65 cents extra.

BSNer: What the..?! You CHEATING BASTARDS. That apple pie should come WITH THE MEAL. (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻

Clerk: You get a whole meal, it's just that if you want more...

BSNer: I can SEE THE PIE right now. It's just sitting there. You could easily add it to my meal without charging me more! It doesn't matter that I'm getting a full meal I want MORE because I know there's MORE to have. I want one of everything you have available and want it for the exact same price as a regular combo meal!

No, gaming company going to give away what they can get money for, they might give away 2 items as DLC. BIOWARE has to prove to EA this title can pull in money, game-wise and DLC. I have been dealing with EA for years as a Senior Moderator and Community Leader. I'm also their biggest critic.

I have no use for DLC that is just weapons and armor. Why? Because those items will be extremely powerful and be the only thing that I wanna use. I am not interested in little weapon and armor packs or special powers. If that is included in a fully realized DLC with story or something along those lines than thats fine.

I prefer long story DLCs that are worth the money I pay for them. I also support DLC companions, especially for Dragon Age, that re full realized and have party banter their own questline. I prefer DLC with substance. Anything less is useless to me.

I'd like dlc to be more in the style of DA2. Basically I want new characters, items I can use in the main game and new gameplay bits and puzzles. (Like the stealthy bit in DA2 dlc, that was a nice change).

What I don't want is DA:O style dlc that puts us in control of a different character. It's a nice way to learn more about them yes but i'd like to do that through dialogue options and keep the dlc to be for the player character of the main game itself.

i'm with you 100% DLC has made them lazy why make sure everything is 100% bug free or mostly bug free with a complete story when you can just release DLC and patch the game later. To me DLC should be like paying for dessert after a meal if you would like it. (the meal would still be complete but dessert would make it better) and not  make the sides cost extra when it should come with the prize of the meal.INB4 what's a complete game and what about sequels(you can still make a complete game and it still have an open ending it which a sequels can be made from
I'd say DA:O with shale in it is complete even without her it's more or less complete and there's still more story to tell in the universe DA:2 however was incomplete it left a lot of stuff not talked about during both of those three year gaps and you as bioware said there would be more DLC to fill in the gaps and it (didn't)  fall though so it really only feels like half a game and without legacy and the exiled prince it feels more enemy than it should.)

Fans are going to complain, EA is into money. If you want this Franchise to keep going you have to support it like it or not. EA isn't into charity. They will throw you something but they expect you to buy something too, buying the game isn't enough.
If this Dragon Age doesn't sell well no matter if it get great reviews or not. It will get cancelled. Money and numbers talk, that's all EA wants to see.

I completely and totally agree with this post. If there must be weapon and armor packs, include them with narrative DLC. Taking the loot out of the game and putting it on the market instead is extremely off putting.

1. Extra companions with their own set of quests.
2. A standalone DLC where we get to play as a popular companion (a la "Leliana's Song") telling a story from their past. The DLC should of course add new weapons and/or armor to the main game inventory upon completion.
3. A DLC where we get to play as one of the antagonists. DLC adds armor and/or weapons to the main game inventory after completing the DLC.
4. A substantial expansion like Awakening (and the cancelled Exalted March for DA II) into which we can port our player character and enjoy further adventures. This will likely depend on how well the main game and subsequent DLC sell.

By that logic, why buy a game at all? It's all just pixels.

I disagree with this analogy. Paying extra for DLC that includes borderline-essential parts of the storyline and weapon packs intended to balance gaps in the available weapons in the OC game, is tantamount to saying the $60-$100 you paid for the full retail game did not entitle you to the full game.

The way they do DLC is closer to making you pay for a burger meal, taking out the tomato from the burger, and making you pay extra for the tomato. You can enjoy the burger without the tomato, so why not pay extra if you want it?
