Mods and DLCs are not mutually exclusive; SR4 got offcial mod support, and still has annoying mini-DLCs

No no no moding .If PC players get to mod or an toolset then they shouldn't be allowed to play/buy the DLCs it's only fair.

Mods don't require a toolset. A toolset makes the creation of mods much easier, but even games without toolsets get modded... sometimes extensively.

There are currently no plans for a toolset (that I'm aware of, anyhow), but beyond that I've no idea how mod-friendly DAI will be (meaning how easy the native files will be to alter). Certainly we're very aware that PC users like to use mods, and that the existence of mods extend the life of the game on PC.

Well, by that logic, I don't want to spend extra money to buy a wireless adapter so my 360 can download DLCs. So because of my personal choice, you shouldn't be allowed to ever download or play DLC.

Thats what your argument sounds like.

Think off it in this way, if you get mods you can make all that annoying stuff and still not pay for it. Those dlcs probably don't sell very well on PC and are meant for consoles, just like with Skyrim the Hearthfire was meant for consoles. A "Build your own home mod" already existed before it ever came out.

No a Gaming PC is the best. And the one I have my eye on I'm gonna be paying out the a** for.  Like car-note type prices.

So common sense telling you.. what they'll do best for themselves. Not for the community.

Eh, I can't speak for everyone but I've always preferred official content to modded content.  The only mods I use are bug-fixers, chargen modifiers and scene changers.  I don't know, modded weapons don't have the same quality, look/feel, or otherwise just don't fit into the game.

So, one you get your "car note" PC... mods will be okay?

Do you hear yourself?

Knock off the console/PC agitation, please.

And PinkDiamonds always brings this up every time mods are mentioned-- I think everyone's quite aware that mods are available to PC users only. If some console users wish to be bitter about that, that's their choice-- but it certainly doesn't affect anything, and there's no need to leap on PinkDiamond's griping as if failing to completely stomp that opinion down will suddenly make us agree with her.

I'm not saying i hate DLCs.. what i'm saying i HATE item/weapon pack DLCs. I don't mind buying season pass for story content DLCs. but the item pack DLC #1, #2, #3 are just damn evil. If people bother buying.. devs probably won't bother releasing any good content DLCs. They rather just disallow mods, don't need to release a toolset and everyone just buying their pre-made mods. Insta cash win.

I certainly hope that theirs plans for a toolset or creation kit, or whatever you might call it. The Mod writers in the Skyrim community made the game far more superior then anyone could ever imagine. This is coming from someone who is extremely critical about the game as a whole. The simple fact is mods is what makes the game worth playing. It allows the player to take full control over their game, and their charecters.

Dragon Age 1 http://dragonage.nexusmods.com/mods/categories//?
Dragon Age 2 http://dragonage2.nexusmods.com/mods/categories//?

Skyrim http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/categories//?

If you want DAI to be the next Skyrim then you should look into what keeps the players happy.... and that is by allowing us to add in mods into our game.

And ALSO.. sorry for the cap.. back in the old days.. you were supposed to find those items/weapons IN the game.. not from buying in the DLCs.

Two things:

1) If you don't like what a DLC offers, don't buy it. If nobody buys it, we won't make it.

2) We're well aware that people who use mods aren't necessarily going to buy every DLC, but not every DLC is made for them. Keep in mind that the majority of the game's user base does not have access to any kind of mod... and that's not just console users. The majority of PC users also don't use mods.

This isn't true.
Weapon packs are not hard to make & they easily make the company much more money then it takes to make them, which means more money for things such as their next proper DLC.

Releasing the Item packs for DA2 didnt make the Legacy any worse, in fact i would go as far as to say that both DLC for DA2 Was Far superior to the base game itself. Which shows that the item packs didnt take away from the story DLC.

And if you think that providing a novelty that makes some people happy (i quite liked some of the item packs) is evil then thats a pity, because if more people were happy at the little things then they would probably be happier in general.

Also your assumption that Mods would stop people from downloading DLC is flawed aswell, mods provide the game with a longer lifespan which  means that, for instance, 8 8 months after the game is released people who dont mod are more likely to have stopped playing the game and are less interested in extra content, where as someone who mods is more likely to want as much content as they can.

I myself bough all of skyrims DLC because i continued to play be due to mods. Also (i'm not sure on this) but i read some stats on the DA2 forum a whiel ago that argued this exact thing, and it pointed that DLC for  DA:Origins sold a lot better then the DLC for DA2 and Origins was far more mod-able.

Sorry for the long post

Almost everyone want to use mods. And everyone who want them need to have PC. I don't see what's your problem. In my country it's called being like dog in manger I believe. :?

I'm very glad that Bioware is aware of need of modding. I hope they will try make it as easy as possible. :)

Wow, this thread is a trainwreck. I'll just say that mods and dev supported toolsets definitely have a monetary cost and a monetary value. I have bought two copies of almost every game Bethesda makes, most recently skyrim, one to play on for my console, and one to mod on for my PC. If DAI has a toolset, I will buy the PC version almost exclusively for that option. Both to create mods myself and for access to the mods other people create.

Toolsets also come with good publicity and good will. It would definitely be a good look for both Bioware and EA to support a toolset for DAI. I would love to see this happen!

Regarding your last point:  Is that true?  When I finally got a computer that could handle DA games my first thought was what mods I'd be able to run.  I was spoiled on some of the armors, weapons and plot fixes and wanted to make sure I'd still be able to experience them.  I can understand console users being jealous.  I was playing DA2 and my daughter's boyfriend commented that the game was a whole lot better on a PC than it was on his X-box.  He'd actually never finished the game because of the limitations of the platform.  I can understand console users wanting a game that is great with or without a PC but I don't want to give up the increased fun that modding allows.  I'll be getting the DLC because it will allow me to play for a few more hours.  I won't cheat Bioware out of any sales.  I want a wicked awesome game.
