"One day the magic will come back. All of it. Everyone will be just like they were. The shadows will part and the skies will open wide. When he rises, everyone will see."

So what i understand is....everyone actually have magic long time ago, but somehow some have no magic anymore and some born with magic. And then a Messiah will do something that bring back the nature and so everybody will have magic again, so no more Mage-Templar/Chantry conflict...

OR it is like Mass Effect 3 ending...everybody merged with magic when the Veil is thin...

It seems obvious to me now, but I could still be wrong. Apparently there was a time before the Veil, in that light:

"The shadows will part, and the skies will open wide." means that the Veil will disappear. "One day the magic will come back. All of it," well if the Veil is gone, there will be nothing left to keep the magic of the Fade out, it will all just be here. "Everyone will be just like they were," well, it's separating the mages from the fade that makes them tranquil, if the Fade is no longer separated from the world, it'll be like there's a Justice presence everywhere, every tranquil will once again become a mage.

The only thing that's not obvious, is who "he" is.

Flemeth's daughter somewhat stated your theory, so it may indeed be fact. There are those who believe that the Maker is the Elven tricking god , Fan'Harel I think. If that is case, then that entity, a sort of mediator between the fade/physical plane, created the veil, thereby 'making' present reality- hence the humans' confusion??

Nah, I was a little creeped out by it too. That and his bit about being visited by the scary lady.

I'm pretty sure it was supposed to be creepy. Also, does anyone else get the feeling that the "prophecy" might be referring to either a version of the Old got baby, or another trapped magister like Corypheus?

OGB maybe a bit too obvious. Also, unfortunately, may not even exist in who knows how many games. Bioware should retcon it to make it canon.

Hm. The prophecies are always (well, almost) written so, that you can understand them in many ways. I like the version with the Veil disappearing, however. "He"? It could be the Maker, Messiah, Old God, Hero of Thedas, etc.
If merged with the mage-templar war (in a way that it makea sense), this here could make an interesting storyline. Or an idea for DA4. Or probably this really means nothing important.

Obviously, he is taking about David Blaine and his next magic trick....

Its threads like this that truly keep me coming back to the bsn. I absolutely love the lore discussions. Personally, I've always taken the prophecy to hint at a sundering of the veil. Tranquil would get magic back (remember Karl, Anders friend when he went all justice crazy and Karl was temporarily normal?) As far as who the "he" is, initially I thought ogb, but could be a deity or even the inquisition protagonist

I think he talks about 50cents Magic Stick from Candy Shop! Especially that rising part gives it away.

That's why it became obvious to me. The idea you have works very well with what we know.

There's also something that bothers me about the evil Elven gods, the Forgotten Ones. There are three names (Anaris, Daem'thal, Geldauran), but there are four evil aspects, in two pairs (terror and malice, spite and pestilence). At first I thought that perhaps there were more of them than previously assumed, but I'm not sure. What I do notice, is that these properties all seem to be present in Darkspawn.

This gave me an idea. We actually don't know if the Black City is really in the Fade. Sure, you can see it from there, but it can't be reached there. Furthermore, we know that the Eluvian in the Dalish origin is tainted in the same way that Darkspawn are and a city can be seen through it. Eluvian also link to a place "beyond the fade", is it possible that this place is in fact the Black City, and that the Forgotten Ones are trapped there. The Magisters' entry into the Fade was then not actually an entry into the Fade, but into the Black City, stepping into the domain of the Forgotten Ones, who sent them back to Thedas, tainted with their power in order to gain power in the real world.

How could this explain the rest of the prophecy? How will everyone be as they were just for another magister or Old God to show up?

What is it with people wanting to make the Old God Baby canon? Bioware shouldn't do that. In fact, that's the one thing they shouldn't retcon. It was such a weighty important decision to a lot of people and that should be acknowledged. When that storyline returns, there should be notable differences between those who have the Old God child and those who don't, with both positives and negatives on either end.

That is super interesting! I always assumed that the Forgotten ones were the Old Gods, and thus were imprisoned on Thedas. Them being in the black city, projected into the Fade from the physical world, is super metaphysical-awesome. That is a very interesting possibility.

In respect to Darkspawn taint, however, Morrigan makes the comment in the Circle tower that it, the darkspawn blight-taint, mirrors demonic taint; demons are denziens of the Fade. Methinks that there is an undoubtable connection between darkspawn, and the fade. My interpretation of the 'spiritual' taint resultant of Darkspawn/Demons is that the fade afflicts the physical reality, and its inhabitants, with cancer-like side-effects. Similar to when a mutated cell lacks the regulations/safeguards to become cancerous, spirits placed in the physical plane generate a level of instability in, which physics cannot cope. Thus, one is presented with tumor-like masses, transformed biological systems, and  a warping of natural order upon contact with darkspawn. Pardon my digression- in short, the darkspawn do seem to have their origins in the fade.

There are two major things that contradict your idea: first and foremost is that the Darkspawn taint is alien to demons. That hardly seems like something that comes from the same realm. Secondly, the Darkspawn are immortal and they are almost divine in their purpose, unlike spirits and demons, who are more individualistic. Darkspawn reverently dig for archdemons completely oblivious to their egos, almost like worshipping the song. Demons and spirits, on the other hand, advance their own interests. Again, a powerful difference their very core being.

A further major difference is that Lyrium sings to Fade-dwellers, while Darkspawn hear the song of the Old Gods. Significant difference. It's clear here, that there are similarities, but I would guess those similarities lie in similar origins of their respective realms, not because they come from the same realm.

As for physics not coping, it's actually a little different. Since we know that the Veil was not always in place, the physics of the world used to be different. Whenever the veil thins, this becomes apparent as the rules change a little bit. Case in point: Anders during Dragon Age 2 Act One, bringing "a piece of the fade" into the real world thereby circumventing Tranquility.

To me, this sort of feels like a... Dragon Age V end of the series type event.  It feels somehow... too momentous to be much else.

I know what you mean, and I certainly share the feeling, but...

When you think about it, making everyone a mage would render the whole war rather a moot point.
