Uhhh whether GoW3's ending is better than ME3's ending is up for debate but ME3 is definitely not lacking symbolism.

In fact there was so much of it that even English teachers might be put off by it.

Symbolism that doesn't make any sense unless you're talking about the Indoctrination Theory.

If you have any other points, list them please.

It's late so my memory is a bit foggy, but the ones that immediately comes to mind is the differences in how Shepard activates the Crucible for Control/Destroy/Synthesis.

After the Crucible blast there was the whole Garden of Eden religious symbolism. Oh and also that one scene where the Alliance soldier is being attacked by husks. After the Crucible hit Reapers/husks the sky started to clear up as if "the nightmare is over" so to speak.

A lot of it was either religious or cliche. TBH I would have preferred less symbolism.

Every aspiring writer knows that Christian references automatically equals deep.

Uh yea I never said I liked it.

I know.

Worse than Alan Wake

I liked the end of Alan Wake. It's a supernatural psychological thriller, of course it was going to ask more questions than it answered.

At least Alan Wake ended with the potential for a sequel with a happier outcome

yea, so did 'I Am Alive'.. Well, kind of... The thing I hated most about Alan Wake is that it started answering so many questions before the ending, so once it got towards the ending and started raising more Q's then A's. I was like wtf is this crap? I mean, I didn't totally hate it. But I did play it after I beat ME3.. So, there's that also.

That's Alan Wake's charm IMO. Like I said, it's a psychological thriller with supernatural elements, that's an intersection of genres where "more questions than answers" is almost a given. The mystery is what makes the story so compelling.

I agree in the case of ME3 that approach doesn't work so well, since it's so character-driven. It might be sci-fi, but it's almost more of a space opera than "traditional" sci-fi, and not tying up loose ends is moreso frustrating than charming.

if i have to be honest, i CAN think of a worse betrayal, and look, it has EA's logo on it to!

Ultima 9, damn i only watched Spoony's review of the games and even I can tell how brutally they destroyed it, from what i saw 8 was bad, but thats in part to it being unfinished.

Personally i find ME3 to anger me more, but thats only cause i never played the Ultima games, at most i have access to Ultima 4 due to GOG giving it to me for free.

but damn could i feel Spoony's rage......i felt so bad for him.

I dont know if anyones ever read this but it makes some good points:

Thank you for that. At first I was like "huh?" but after reading through it. I realized something. Mass Effect 3 is still worse, Why you ask?

It combines the "off switch" talked about in Gears of War 3 and the nonsensicalness of Bionic Commando. But it also has the ambiguity and nihilism of previous choices that Deus Ex HR displayed.

To top it all off. Half of those games are just your generic TPS or FPS, they were more about gameplay and graphics then about story.

Especially GoW3, that's not even worth getting worked up about because Gears always had a pretty mediocre story, so it actually was a fitting end in that regard.

I read that article and almost spilled my drink. MGS4's ending worse than ME3? On what planet? I couldn't disagree more reading the other games too. It's like he's joking. Deus Ex HR's ending is worse because the choices you made didn't effect the ending? Oh you mean JUST like ME3?

MGS4 still has a pretty stupid ending, its probably on top 10 worst endings ive seen personally. Its a pretty stupid game too if you think about it.

I would argue the LotR movies, but for all their flaws, they're still great movies. Obviously there's Star Wars prequels, too.

In video games, the only way to be more disappointed is to follow esports and watch your favorite player lose.

... Did you just tell me that Square Enix is remaking an entire game, and Bioware won't even invest enough to fix the endings?
And some people are going to say, "But the extended-cut!"
No. The extended cut fixed nothing, aside from the evac scene with the squadmates.
If anything the EC is a kick to the quad, because Bioware gave us the conventional war ending, like a lot of people wanted, even though it makes you automatically lose after spending three games fighting.

I think I know where my next game will be coming from. In fact, I may sell every Mass Effect Bioware thing I own in order to purchase as much Square Enix merchandise as possible.

Depends on what you're looking at. Though I enjoyed the MGS series, it's plot was a convoluted mess with twists being pulled out of their ass at regular intervals.

The ending followed suit, but while the explanation at the end was arguably contrived, it was still explained in great detail. I mean this was the longest video game ending I've ever seen. Whether or not it was believable or well written, we still got an answer to every question and closure for every character, it hit every note an ending is supposed to.

On the other hand Mass Effect 3's ending has no closure for any character relationship (except maybe a powerpoint picture), plot devices that function in incredible ways that hadn't been forshadowed or explained, and the main motive behind the antagonist seemingly contradicts their actions up till this point. It was so confusing some people are still saying it's all a dream and Bioware is eventually going to release the real ending.

MGS4's ending was a series of contrived explanations, but we at least got an explanation. ME3's ending threw a bunch of unexplained plot devices at us and told us to speculate.

Cmon it can't be THAT bad. If you went into a non-dancing kinect game expecting it to be any decent then its kind of your own fault.

Not sure video game wise.

However, it reminds me of everything that happened after the ending of LOST with it's fans.

LOST was the greatest show ever to all it's fans...then the ending came...and it split the fans. There  were some who liked it (like me) and it was still the greatest show...and the rest hated on it and said it ruined the whole show.

Yes Ive seen that, Ive also played the game. My point is its KINECT, you expect ****** poor quality. Its like making a movie based on a game, its doomed to failure right from the start. It is not as bad because it was doomed before it even came out just due to the mechanics. Its a shame too because without the kinect it had some potential.

I didnt mind the ending to lost, not saying it was great or anything but by the last season it was clear the show would never give you any real answers. One of my best friends raged pretty hard after he saw it though...

Someone said that the ME3 was the worst ending ever. That is simply not true.

The GOW3 ending was the worst, cheesiest, dumbest, mos out of place thing, I've EVER seen in any videogame. It was just... wow.

Gears of War 3 ending wasn't the worst ending, yes it was cheesy and out of place considering everything that we've experienced in prior games, but it didn't "drop the ball" like Mass Effect 3 did.  GOW3 endings is forgetteable, Mass Effect 3 on the other hand isn't.

The biggest disaster are people who still waste their lives complaining about it. By the Time ME4 has arrived none of this will matter.

Star wars prequels, even though it was the entire trilogy, not just the ending. And its movies not a videogame. In games, i have no idea. Slender?

Yes this will continue until their next game and then people will focus all their energy on that...
