I love how these people think they've suffered so much.

People, you got a huge company on it's knees and forced them to give free DLC to fix the ending.

Way more than most fans get.

Except for those whom the EC fixed little or nothing.  Which appears to be quite a few of them.

In video games, no. Though KOTOR 2 is the gaming predecessor of the ending infamy. Mostly not for the same reasons, but it's another game that is overshadowed by its ending and its the first thing people bring up when discussing it.

Well, the game would of been brilliant if it was finished, rofl.

In history?  Yes.

In fiction? Yes.

In gaming? Yes.

But not in the eyes of a Mass Effect "fan".

No.

It's funny because you proved his point

lol.

Its funny because people keep saying it - but I'm yet to see any 'understanding' explained that changes anything. There is nothing in the ending that magically makes it good - there is no symbology that turns it around and makes it better, there is no glorious sudden revelation just beneath the surface that stops it from being a poor ending to what could have been one of the grandest sci-fi stories in gaming.

Otherwise come on out you and he and everyone else who claims "no understanda!" and make us understand if we're all missing something that is clearly so obvious to all of you enlightened beings....anytime you're ready now...

Of course, I'm talking conceptually here.  The reaction to it is a different ballgame, and I'd be tempted to say no.

Mass Effect 3 hasn't contributed to any 1983-esque video game crashes so I'd say yes, there has been a bigger disaster than the ME3 ending.

NWN2 ending was worse but ME3 is blasted more because it was a terrific series of games.

And of course, Mask of the Betrayer "fixed" the ending via postending content.

That is ironic.

The ending to Skyrim was a piece of sh*t... it's just that no one cares because Bethesda hasn't nailed down the aspect of making actual characters in their games.

The hatred for ME3's ending is proportional to the emotional investment people had in the series.

EC was effing crap, btw. If a laughably illogical mid-battle reunion scene and a couple minutes of cutscenes and a few slides at the end "fixed" things for you, you are a dope. If I had carved out half of my brain first, maybe EC would have "fixed" things for me too.

I don't recall any gaming-related event that has such an enormous reaction and attention, no.

Which is surprising, because we should almost consider ourselves lucky in comparison to the Resident Evil fans...

Yeah because lack of closure was the only problem with the endings.

Never mind total destruction of the canon, reversal of the game's core themes, and a total failure to live up to promises...

I will admit that ME3 was a good game--orgasmic in certain places--but its flaws tend to be really conspicuous.  I mean, even Miranda's ass wasn't as in-your-face as some of this stuff...

I would say it was much better, until the illusion was shattered by the sheer jump in logic.

Anyway, I really can't name a game series that fell as far as Mass Effect did.

DNF- Didn't play the originals, wasn't expected that much. Had a few laughs. Was alright for the expectation.

I think Dawn of War Soulstorm was about the worse it got, but it didn't rate a "WTF!" for me.

Yeah Soulstorm, damn it after playing it, I went back to Dark Crusade, winter Assault and the orginal DoW.

KOTOR 2 I'm not sure fits. It's ending was mainly incomplete. ME3's is just plain bad.

It fits because the game is infamous for its ending and there was a controversy around it. Yes, even incomplete it was still much much better than ME3, but that doesn't change the fact that majority of people think it sucked thanks to plotholes caused by cut content. You bring up KOTOR 2 on GameFaqs, GAF, GameTrailers forums and people immediately go "did the ending got fixed?/ending sucked!/where can I download TSLCRM mod?". It saddens me because it overshadows the best written Star Wars story ever and one of the best written games overall, but that's the reality...

I wouldn't call it a bigger disaster but Command and Conquer 4 Tiberian Twilight was also a major let down.

When you really stop to think, ME is barley notable compared to some of the truly horrible stuff yet to come.

BTW George Lucas is making a star wars animated parody himself because he thought robot chicken didn't do a good job, google or youtube "star wars detours" for industrial strength soul death.
