I wish you could all like "Lady, you realize that the same damn thing is happening on Earth, right? And that I had to leave my home-world to burn? So stop whining, because we have all gone through the same thing.

I love how "entitled" is now the buzzword for every fanboy who makes it their sacred duty as a member of the BioWare Defence Force and feels the need to vomit it into every sentence when they reply to a discussion. You're not even using it in its proper context.

Anyway, being forced to drag along Liara was irksome at the best of times, especially with all of her informed abilities she gained by process of being the writer's pet but at least this one was actually relevent to her field; that is, Prothean science.

What I found a tad annoying is that Thessia is played up as this big, sad, tragic moment everybody cries about but I felt zero that couldn't have been convoyed on Palaven, after the Citadel, or maybe after leaving Earth under the same circumstances?

Interesting fact: the only main plot missions where you have full control of which squadmates come are Sanctuary and Earth.

Yeah, it's kind of ridiculous.

That's... Interesting.

Also not entirely accurate. You can pick your squadmates for Sur'Kesh, Tuchanka, and the Citadel Coup. Plus you need to do at least one of the Tuchanka & Rannoch side missions and those all let you pick your squaddies.

You know, one problem with Thessia (apart from what is talked on the OP) is the posterior of the mission. You should be able to handle better how Shepard responded to the fall of the Asari's homeworld.
.
There are two sides for it, Shepard was defeated personally and the planet fall can be seen as a broader defeat. A more renagade oriented Shepard could be more concerned about the former.

I wouldn't call them entitled.

More like pseudo liara haters who are really just butt hurt that their romance didn't get more attention.

Why does this thread persist? Why isn't there a thread for every character that irks us a little on a particular mission?

That's the way I came away from it feeling, it was more about the personal defeat than Thessia, not that there wasn't some regret about Thessia.  Yes, Reaper invasion is galaxy wide, but that doesn't negate some negative feelings about it, even for my Brutal Renegade.  This view is further supported by the vidcom dialog after the fact.

Yeah, those silly people noticing the blatant favoritism in regards to the emount of screentime Liara gets in comparison to other characters? How dare they have sensory functions!

Oh, please. Her Shadow Broker role was badly nerfed to give Samantha more screentime. You got what you wanted there.

Huh?

I wanted Liara to be more involved as the Shadow Broker. She does all of nothing as the Broker in ME3.

So... you want Liara to have more screentime, then?

I never said I didn't want her to have screen time. She can have screen time, but I would prefer she do a little more than f**k all she's done in-game thus far. She has a lot of screen time, but aside from the Crucible reveal, it's on unsubstantial crap.

To be honest, she doesn't do "f*ck all." You occasionally walk in on her coordinating the Crucible construction, sending resources, exonerating useful scientists. She doesn't add gameplay, but she's still the Shadow Broker.

She just isn't finding Cerberus bases for you to hit.

Well, Liara wasn't implemented that well. I wish Samantha could have had a different role, though I'm not sure what it'd be.

So yeah, for all intents and purposes, she's doing f**k all. In an interactive, visual medium like video games, one doesn't want to be told that something is happening, especially when nothing comes of what is being told.

Fair point. I'd say they just needed to make room for Traynor, and couldn't find a good role for Liara in the process.

No, those two don't have to intertwine.  She could of had the same amount or less and still shown that she is a good Shadow Broker, not her fault as a character, it's the writers fault.

Someone else in a different thread brought up an interesting situaton that happened in the comics, implying that Liara, while a good information broker in general, is actually an awful Shadow Broker. TIM essentially tells her that the criminal underworld/whoever else relies constantly on the SB to get things done was considering overthrowing the Broker, thinking he had gone soft or senile lately. I certainly can't see Liara being as ruthless as the Yahg Broker, that's for sure.

You guys who whine about Liara should have had your Shepards left to the Collectors and made into a reaper. Just sayin'. So just deal.

When was there ever fair screentime to characters? I don't recall this promise being made to you.

Since when did I ever say anything about each character getting an equal amount of screentime?

Regardless, if character X (who I am a fan of) gets 3 minutes of screentime, and character Y (who you're a fan of) gets 10 minutes of screentime, you wouldn't think that's perhaps a bit unfair?

No, I wouldn't consider that unfair.

A real injustice would be imprudent screentime for elements that don't hit their maximum target market just for the sake of being fair.
