Of course you wouldn't, the character that you're a fan of is getting the majority of the alloted screentime. Which was my point.
Regardless, with how unsubstantial Liara's role really is (and how little she actually does in the game), she has far too much screentime.

Out of all the squadmates, she was the most important one.
Why give her time to someone inferior?

Aside from Mac Walters' say-so, exactly what makes her the most important?

This is actually pretty easy:

In ME 1, she's the resident Prothean Expert, when a Prothean Expert is really needed.

In ME 2, she has a DLC???  OK, maybe not so important here, although, with the way the game plays out, her becoming the SB does lend itself to importance to the plot, for better or worse.

In ME 3, it pretty much ends at Mars, where she spent her 6 months between ME 2 and 3 researching intel gleaned from the SB's resources.  However, again for better or worse, it is important to the plot.  The time capsule is relevent also, depending on how the endgame plays out.  There's  a lot of people that refuse, apparently, and that intel is going to be needed, even if they have to presume that we did something wrong building the Crucible.

Nothing really.

She was just there from the beginning and is one of the main reasons Shepard  was able to even get the chance to stop Sovereign.
And she's blue, young and a prothean expert, need I say more?

Shepard having the Cipher sort of overpowers her being a prothean expert. Just take a look at From Ashes. The prothean expert utilizes her prothean knowledge and does... Absolutely nothing with it.

And aside from the plot's convenient say-so with the Ilos reveal, how is Liara a "main reason" that Shepard was able to stop Sovereign?

To be fair, all the squaddies in ME1 were purely conventional and only Tali and Liara had a moment of plot relevance. Tali revealing the data and Liara revealing that the planet the Conduit is on is Ilos. Both even then are purely "happen to be there" out of chance. Either role were not dedicated to their characters but just who they were and where they were at a certain time.

It's because BioWare wanted to make it very, very clear to you that Liara's homeworld is being invaded by Reapers. And she is sad.

Clearly they failed, so they will work on a DLC called "Liara's Blues", where you'll hear triple the amount of whining from Liara whilst playing the Thessia mission, along with a 30 minute long cutscene of just her crying.

As long as there are plenty of Paragon-interrupt hugs to perform.

Can we really say Liara is a Prothean expert? I mean, she studied them for 100 years and got every single fact wrong.

Yes. It's a runnung trope in sci-fi that cultures will get their predecessors wrong. Talk to a real archeologist about how much of our own knowledge is conjecture.

My problem with Liara is twofold. She changes from game to game into whatever the narrative needs her to be, abd she is forced as Shepard's closest friend.

I also didn't like Liara on Thessia. I knew dragging her along was going to be a problem, and that was confirmed because she had a hard time keeping it together.

I wish they hadn't made it mandatory. They didn't make it mandatory to take her on Noveria, and I often didn't take her for that mission.

You know, I may be completely wrong here but I think when she tells Shepard about this theory there is a option in the dialogue wheel like "Tell me something I don't know, genius".

I hate all missions where you're forced to bring a character. Even if it's Liara.

Shepard knows that the reapers wiped out the protheans.

But Liara tells you that the protheans didn't build the relays and the citadel, and that the cycle has repeated itself many times over.

Close, but not enough. Many kind of harms would`ve been avoided if she would have realized that reapers built them.

probably...

But Liara isn't the only archaeologist in the galaxy. I think it's save to assume that the council races have been picking apart everything the protheans for centuries. ..and Liara was closer to the truth than everyone else. Calling her a bad
archaeologist isn't very fair, I think.

Not as annoying as bringing EDI anywhere. Her stating the obvious constantly drives me nuts, "I know! Shut up EDI!"

I find Liara annoying the intire time, she did not give a rats butt about the other worlds falling to bits, and she never mentioned anything about how much she missed or liked Thessia before hand, so Im like right so now you're worried about you're home world after three games

Yeah, that's why Liara says she is sorry about Earth on more than one occasion or her reaction when she sees Palevan getting hit...

@Barquiel it's the way she says it, it's like when someone dies and shepard goes im sorry for you're loss and then shrugs her shoulders
