Shepard doesn't spend the entire game moping about earth. He/she mostly goes on about simply building alliances, getting the Crucible built and stopping the reapers. But all in all, earth being the first council world hit, along with Palaven shortly after, does give some license to complain when the council sits on its laurels.
Liara in Thessia is really annoying.
