The asari did far more than the salarians, and at least in my playthrough, wound up doing more than the turians and quarians as well. Outstripped only by the humans (and the entire Alliance was committed to the Crucible), krogan and geth.DoomHK wrote...

Liara in Thessia is really annoying.

Me too and I also wish we could have NOT gone after him at all. Railroading Shep into such defined emotional outbursts is just stupid. Autodialogue sucks, 'more defined' Shepard sucks. If Bioware wanted more autodialogued and defined character, they should've waited till ME4 and new hero. Not do it with Shep who was not autodialogued & defined like that for 2 games already.Xilizhra wrote...

James is rather manic and possibly something of a death seeker after the Earth incident, and you get a chance to bring this up in the "dance" scene. I doubt he'd respond well to "comfort" anyway; too macho. So? I didn't see any "omg go talk to Vega ha must be so sad after what happened on Earth" after it happened
Well... if the alternative is Shepard the brick, I have to wonder how bad it all is.Me too and I also wish we could have NOT gone after him at all. But in previous games it was your choice to make him the brick. You also had a choice to make him emotional. Now you're railroaded. Great that it suited you in this case, chances are high railroading didn't suit you in other cases.Xilizhra wrote...

Actually, the guy who wrote the Thessia mission is the same guy who wrote the Tuchanka mission (you, the good one).

I never once had a problem with "railroading" in this game, with the exception that I never got to worry about Mindoir, or even learn where the place was.IsaacShep wrote...

As far as I know, John Dombrow wrote it. And I agree, the mission is really horrible...it's short and totally linear, the story doesn't make much sense, we have Kai Leng...

Remember that video about dynamic choice that came out before release that showed Shepard picking one choice and not getting asari support? Well for some reason, they completely eliminated that option and forced the asari to die for you when you don't even need their useless gunship.

And that's the problem - you don't, many do. A lot of the stuff was in favor of the Asari or what you personally wanted, which is fine, but don't expect everyone to be in the same boat.

Yes...I remember. I even reloaded a couple times, seeing if there was anything I could do to save Talon 5

SHE IS SOO ANNOYING.
I agree. People forget that Liara isn't a soldier; she's a civilian. Her reactions are pretty realistic. But I also agree with the OP, there should have been an option for Shepard to just not allow her to be on the Squad when they head down...to try and shield her from seeing those things that horrify her to begin with, because she's a civilian.
But folks forget, everyone's Shepard died in ME2....everyone is playing Mac's Shepard now.

Oh yeah, how could I forget this? I wish I could slap her so hard and say: "The Alliance is fraking spear heading this war while your race sits back and hide critical intel. Shut the frak up and pull yourself together!".

She's not a soldier, true, but she is the Shadow Broker, and part of Shepard's team, she's not the naive scientist you pull off of Therum anymore.
I don't necessarily mind the reaction on a basic level, but I think they went a little overboard and maybe took the wrong path a little.
Instead of just having her crack like that, they could have dialed it back to have her cracking, and trying to cope with the fact that despite being hardened against this la shi having a more direct affect on her is hard to deal with.

I would and it would be a no brainer to me. But cutting it was definitely the right choice. Not because "everyone would save Liara" but because it would be just copy of the idea already used to a big effect in the trilogyFinn the Jakey wrote...
