I went back to the Story Forums... it's still filled with people whining about the ending.

This is why I stay in the MP forums.

Explaining to people why I liked the EC over and over would get incredibly tiresome really fast.

I agree. There are another 30 hours of SP content in there and honestly, if somebody first finished the game after the EC came out, they'd probably like it or at least not hate it.

+1 for both of these posts. MP forums seem pro-ME which means positivity and fun discussions. I would only go back to SP forums when the ending debacle stops.

If the BSN were a city, ME3 Story would be city hall. Filled with the same people complaining and debating the same issues with each other, with no progress made and little impact on anything.

ME3MP is like a dive bar or taco truck. I'll let you all contemplate why.

Across the street from our homely dive, the neon lights of a new Thai restaurant, aka DA:I discussion, beckon. Everyone's saying they'll try it out, even though it got mixed reviews.

That's pretty funny OP, but sadly, not that surprising.

I used to like visiting the story forums, but then the endings came and people ruined those forums for me. Yes, the people. Not the actual endings.

I'd say deal with it. But they can't move past them. People here can move past flaws bit faster... well ok we still complain about the geth and all, but still.

I still haven't finished the story, and somehow I have still managed to avoid knowing what happens at the end.

I was so into the story, got to Rannoch, did every small sidequest and was falling in love with my LI, then I thought I'd give the mp a little try and here I am 3 months later, still promising myself to go back and enjoy the story sometime soon.

I thought it was awful and I still hate it, but oh well that was like 6+ months ago--over it.

Well, if I cared so much about the story to a goddamn video game I'd still be pissed, too.

It wouldn't be so bad if the guys who post there and respond there weren't such obnoxious dicks who cling to their ideological views like it were the last glass of water on earth.

The endings are still bad, the EC just polished the turd a little. I don't go to the story forums anymore, because there's really no point. SP campaign is over, I will not be replaying it, I will not be buying any SP DLCs either, so there's nothing more to discuss.

The MP, on the other hand, absolutely saved the whole experience to me. I've been playing it for months on end, and will continue playing for months more, I think. Singleplayer can go rot now, for all I care, and I've initially bought the game for the singleplayer.

They closed the romance forums due to bickering? That's funny as hell.

Are the Combine gonna raid BSN and force us to go through them to escape?  :P

As for the thread's topic, while I do think the ending still needs a total rewrite, honestly it's pretty late to still be complaining about it.

Until they realize that most fans are happy with the EC and they're a vocal minority and it's time to give up the fight. Human Revolution didn't get an EC. Final Fantasy XIII-2 didn't get an EC. Even if you still aren't satisfied about the endings, it's at least worth acknowleging that Bioware Edmonton at least cares more  about their fans more than the devs of other games with less than stellar conclusions.

Square Enix and oldschool/jrpg fans have already accepted obscure and ridiculous endings for decades.
people are never happy with the way anything ends, they are just able to voice it now and think their input matters.
Look at the matrix, or Lost. ( i know, but they had huge cult followings and ended badly, people are probably still arguing about lost)

your point about it being good that "at least bioware cares" though, i can def agree with.

If push comes to shove, we have but one chance. The Fagnan with the Nerfgun, shouting biblical verses at the hordes of mindless zombies while he escorts our poor doomed souls through the depths of despair.

What else should people do in the story and campaign forums? Praise Bioware's greatness and built them a shrine? ME3 has multiple flaws and the ending(s) are one of its biggest. Also, there are still players out there, that just finished the single player and they just feel like voicing their opinion.

yes, i tried to do this since i beat the game the first time after ec, and i liked the synthesis ending...
i decided to share this. little did I know i was the minority, and im a horrible person who resorts to forced eugenics, im a racist against aliens because i make their decisons for them without consent and i might as well have enslaved the human race... lol i dont think ive been called worse names to my face just because i had a disagreeable opinion..

I posted over there all of 2 days.
Good luck to those guys you speak of.

This. Even when/if I agree with someone's views I find it tedious that the discussion never seems to move forward. Its just people shouting at each other. I much prefer the mp forum where I can find info about builds, strategies, bugs, discussions about difficulty etc. It just feels like its worth my time more than what the story forum has turned into. :(

I'll agree to that. It was before my time but I remember reading about how so many people HATED Return of the Jedi over the "overly sunny" ending and the Ewoks. Still, Square-Enix (including former Eidos studios) have made some titles with endings that are genuinely awesome like Fear Effect, Final Fantasy X, Hitman 2, etc. They've just really dropped the ball in recent years even more than Bioware did with ME3.

Its understandable since Mass Effect has always been a singleplayer game that prides itself on its story, and then 3 comes along and just dropped the ball. Some peoople liked the EC, others think its a polished turd. Some people liked Vega, others found him useless. Some people think its the best addition to the franchise, others think its the worst. Your going to have some people who have very good reasons on why they liked the ending, and your going to have some people with very good reasons on why they hated it.

For me, the ending and many other parts of Mass Effect 3 pretty much ruined any replaybility the singleplayer had going for it. Thank goodness for the multiplayer. This is by far the best part of this game. Not just because of the replaybility, but because of character customization and the variety of powers and weapons, characters to play as, equipment and gear and so much more. So much depth in a cooperative experience.

BW did so good, IMO, they kinda set themselves up for failure. People saw Shepard as a self-insert, rather than 'Shepard' being a few possible individuals, which I think the original intent was. American audiences hate any ending that isn't a happy ending after all, (and I'm saying this as an american). That's just my take on it anyways, I love this game and I'm still playing it after all.
