Why rush straight to the extraction point? Why? Why? WHY?

Agree that camping the LZ is awful tactically. Most PUGs don't get it, at all.

Well at least before the DLC I remember it working well on bronze and silver. Now not so much.

Of course anyone moving up from silver is going to have the mindset that it will still work so its going to take them a few games to adjust.

Also gold is damn scary the first few times so they probably want to try things that they feel work, so they can help out as much as possible, one of which is holding the lz(or so they think).

Staying on the EZ is usually the worst idea ever. (kinda on pair with meleeing a praetorian if you dont time it well)

Honestly i dont know why some people keep doing it.

Still i must say that ive found quite productive to start the extraction wave on the landing zone, and fight trough a circuit circling the map as a team, while you shoot enemies and take cover you lure them away from the LZ, and if you do it right you will have most of the enemies on the far side of the map when you have about 30 seconds left, wich is usually more than enough to make a run to the LZ safely (if you dont get stuck on cover with the all doing spacebar)

I don't care if PUGs run to the extraction as i'm not one to tell them how to play. I just don't like when they get on their mic and **** at me for not reviving them.

I also notice more missles being used during extraction than objective waves.

Rational logic dictates that a sane military would select an extraction zone that could be easily defended. Really, some of the landing zones are just badly thought out...

On Bronze and silver I do it simply because its more interesting - especially against Cerberus on silver we get wave after wave of Dragoon slaying. But on Gold and up, I always stay away from extraction as long as possible.

...Jade? Surely you jest. I've never seen a PUG, at least, survive camping the Jade LZ. You get rushed from the spawn point in the control rooms to your left, and the spawn at the back of the map on the right spits out enemies who provide suppressive fire.

And the control room spawn on the left is really, really close... meaning if you kill that Prime or Phantom or Scion or whatever is bothering you, it will be back on you in seconds

Again, I think it's a far better strategy to have one team camp the control rooms on the left, controlling that spawn, with one group either on the lower landing on the right side or in the first control room nearby.

Notice that I said in or near a defendable location.  On Jade the upper level control room you mentioned is the defendable spot.  From experience things get a little uglier for the lower floor labs though.

A) They love the challenge
B) They think they have to hold the LZ at all costs for some reason
C) They're stupid
D) they are told to by the in-game tutorial every single mission

Sadly. I warn them too, and sometimes they listen, but most of the time?

I wonder if they keep doing it out of spite...

Use them as meat shield, lure all Atlas, Bansehss, Dragoon, Phantom there and watching them get annihilate, while using their consumables which they never use under the objectives.

I run around the map, 10 sec left mad rush into the zone using my 1 rocket left,

Lone Survivor, i'm happy

People get annihilate at LZ is God punishment for not using consumables during objectives or taking out spawn on higher wave. To satisfied seeing them go minus 10% credit

Idiots, morons, stupid ??? Really guys??? How about we all recognize that when we all started playing we all fell into those catagories... I agree that sitting in the LZ is not the preffered way to ensure a complete extraction... Especially at gold and plat but since the DLC even silver carries a greater risk of fully extracting... I think those points can be made and it can be so much more constructive to new players if we just learn to respect all memebers of the community!! I am calling for civility on BSN!

Ditto.  I love the Bronze zerg rush of baddies.  It's like being attacked by a wave of plush bunnies.  It is adorable!  Silver is actually kind of fun, because they can and will wipe you if they get the chance.  On gold though?  I try to do a victory lap of the level, then I find a teammate and tag team whatever comes our way for a little bit.

I think Glacier is the best training for how players should approach extraction zones.  There's two good choke points outside of the landing zone itself, giving a team the room to fall back as they have to.  That same principle should then be applied to all other maps.

Absolutely, let's all recognize that it's a beginner's mistake that can sometimes be rectified by experience. But they do sort of get moved into that category when they explicitly refuse to leave the LZ even after one or two polite suggestions (and occasionally, on my part, even a missile + run in to the LZ to revive, and then clear out again).

I have a twin, rather than a big brother--but judging from my friends and acquaintances, getting called an idiot by your older siblings is an absolutely typical part of that package. :innocent:

Because I can.

It is much fun to hold the lz than to run away from enemies for 2 minutes.
With 4k shields(stim packs) the only thing that can take me down is a possessed pretorian and scion.

Sure, but to say they're dumb for believing what the game teaches them through voice tutorial is a bit harsh.

It depends on the map. If extraction point is easy to defend, like in Firebase White, then I will hunker down. If it's a map like Ghost, I'll cringe when I see everyone dive into the extraction point, seeing how difficult that position is to hold.

A good squad will handle the swarm.
Generally I prefer to wait but my goal is full extraction,
so I might as well support the team if they rush it.

BTW on Giant its almost better to hold the Lz imo.

I usually try to stay away from the LZ unless people are getting killed on it, then I go straight into "Dudley Do-right stops to help" mode.

So there are two schools of thought on this. Camp extraction for fun or play it safe on the other side of the map. Both sides have merit as well. It's all conditional though with who you're playing with and the map of course. Now I'm from the school of thought on running to extraction with 30 seconds. I only camp extraction on bronze. Silver and up, its a deathtrap IMO. I understand the excitement of holding the line but I also like extracting even before the extraction credits so chances are if you see me on silver or up, at wave 11, I'm going to be on the other side of the map trying to poke enemies into following me in a fun game of "TAG your it!" Half the time though I find myself getting to extraction with hordes of enemies swarming my teammates and using a rocket to clear the LZ because some people just refuse to use the damn things. This is how I was taught though by some damn good gold/plat players though and it seems to work just fine for me :-)

So if the excuse is that they listen to "get to the LZ" why in the **** can't they listen to objective waves and stay in to hack zone or get the pizza or follow the dam drone. Its called dumbazzes who don't belong, period.

Rushing to the LZ and staying there is a terrible idea, because a lot of LZs are death traps.

However, rushing to the LZ to prevent it from being a spawn point, and then immediately spreading out to cover chokepoints leading to the LZ, falling back and reinforcing each other as necessary... that works pretty well on several of the maps, Reactor included.

Rush LZ to prevent spawn, 1 person goes back and covers tunnel to reactor and prevent that spawn point, 1 person stays near LZ to cover tunnel to the right, 1 person is inside that tunnel to prevent another spawn point and to draw enemies away from the ramp, final person goes where they're needed most.
