Hey I remember when I first started playing on bronze I used to be confused when nobody came to the extraction until near the end - it took me a while to realize that isn't the smartest thing to do so I think new players will just think its the right thing to do like I used to ....

I quite miss the glory days of bronze when I thought the turian soldier with an eagle and concussive shot was crazy OP - OMG YOU CAN KNOCK EVERYTHING OVER AND SHOOT THEM WHILE THEY ARE ON THE FLOOR!

Depends alot on the map and the players involved. FBW, for example, you can hunker down relatively easily, just cover the three main entrances and fall back as necessary. With others, rushing to the LZ is most assuredly a death trap, like Ghost, Condor, etc.

But if everyone is skilled/has ranged spammable powers/grenades, you can generally just camp the LZ. But probably not a chance Id be willing to take in a PUG.

Just depends on the map for me. Some players like to camp down in one spot and if the LZ is decent for cover then why the heck not. Otherwise moving as a group is better for your health.

The only time I ever go to the extraction point early is if for some reason the game glitches and the extraction timer disappears. Anyone know why this happens?

Ahhhh Yes! The Alamo Syndrome -- very interesting even as an experienced player with the insight to know that you'll be wearing your ass as a hat if you try to hold the LZ for longer than 60 seconds. players believe those extra XP point will reflect their true fighting spirit and go out in a blaze of glory. In fact some of the best co-op moments are had at the LZ fighting cheek and jowl besides your comrades wait they're all dead whyyyyyy!

Rushing to the LZ and staying there is a terrible idea, because a lot of LZs are death traps.

However, rushing to the LZ to prevent it from being a spawn point, and then immediately spreading out to cover chokepoints leading to the LZ, falling back and reinforcing each other as necessary... that works pretty well on several of the maps, Reactor included.

Rush LZ to prevent spawn, 1 person goes back and covers tunnel to reactor and prevent that spawn point, 1 person stays near LZ to cover tunnel to the right, 1 person is inside that tunnel to prevent another spawn point and to draw enemies away from the ramp, final person goes where they're needed most.

Pretty much this. Atleast on silver it gives you time enough to take most enemies out. If you're tagged by a boss draw it around while helping out and another teammate takes your position.

Almost always happens to me when I join a game in progress.

I wonder if that's what does it then. It's weird... sometimes it happens only on one objective wave in the match as well. Usually I am the person who is hosting, but I wonder if the joining a game in progress thing is what does it...

I usually do the opposite and try to force the spawn at or near the LZ, so they take the next 45 seconds to come across the map to you so you can then pass or flank them and walk into a clear LZ.

OP, why are you getting upset b/c OTHERS are stupid?

Let them get all the aggro while you sit and relax, and then rush the last 15 seconds to the extraction and collect the credits they won't be getting b/c they're stupid...

I say.....KEEP DOING IT RANDOMS!!!!

People on silver do it a lot. Gold players are normally wiser than that

Yeah, but it's not that hard to hold the extraction zone on Silver (at least on many maps) and it's often kind of fun.

The funny thing is that people will rush to the ezone and yet not rush to help out in the hack zone or r2detour objectives. On some maps one can defend the ezone so it's fine to rush there. On other maps it is not. I hang back to start but usually end up following people there to try and help them out. The collectors are extra nasty for people going to the ezone.

It's a nominally a team game. If your three team mates go down in the first 20s, you might struggle to survive the remaining 40s against waves designed for 4 players. If you have to waste consumables to make extraction after the rest of your team committed suicide, you're entitled to be annoyed.

[And in case you think that credits is all that matters, look up "operand conditioning" and re-examine your attitude - if you're just doing it for the credits, you're not enjoying the game; if you're not enjoying the game, you might as well do better things with your time]

I noticed this trend especially last night. I had been hosting silver matches on Jade against Cerebus, playing a Vorcha and every extraction people run to the LZ. Only to be swarmed by Dragoons, phantoms and Atlas and not have the firepower to hold the line. The funny thing is over five matches the same scenario occurred at the end of each match where it was the same squad as before.

This is exactly how I like to do it, but very few PUGs seem to do this.
I'm usually standing at the far side of the map with no enemy around because they're all conversing on the other 2/3 players in the LZ

My point is that is NOT WISE to go to the spot where you're supposed to be right off the bat, b/c all the enemy will converged on that point.  It's simple logic, but if some players don't understand that, I will not waste my "consumables", trying to save them b/c they made an unwise decision.  From my experience, they will continue to sit there and keep attracting aggro...

It is even more exasperating if the first 10 waves went smoothly with all players contributing with solid gameplay and tactics. I'm at the point now where I'll just say "eff it" and join them or if I'm in a position to aggro a large amount of the forces and keep them occupied until extraction, I'll see if that can work. I used to be all gung ho about getting a full extraction but if people don't have the sense to just chill out for a few minutes until going to the LZ, I want to make sure that I can at least extract and pass the mission even its not really a big deal. When people do this on Reapers on like Hydra, thats the worst.
so much :pinched::pinched::pinched:

Played with some randoms yesterday on Hazard Ghost and three nubs ran for extraction while being drowned in acid rain. Its already one of the worst extraction zones in the game, then with rain eating your shields preventing regen? Haha nubz.

cause besides from a couple maps, the lz is very defensible with a whole team....the bigger issue with extractions isnt rushing to the lz, it's people's lack of consumable use

Some extraction zones are actually really defensible. Some absolutely aren't. Really defensible LZs, it actually kind of confuses me that people hold the line somewhere else and make a mad dash in the last 20 seconds, hoping that nothing's in the way.
