Jeff van Dycke (i don't know if i spell his name right) is okay too, Total War series composer.

I like his song, his wife singing, "Lift Thine Eyes", it have both medieval and modern sound

This is another song that always MAKE ME CRY..."We are all One"

Edit :

This song suitable for dark environment of the Chantry and the Inquisition

I'm a part of the "we" when it comes to getting Inon Zur for the DA3 soundtrack. His work in DA:O is iconic and an essential part of that which made the game so great. DA2 soundtrack isn't as memorable, but still does a good job of helping the game along and we can quickly relate the music with the series.

I hope Inon Zur is to DA3 as Clint Mansell was to ME3.

Count me in for Inon Zur. Enjoy his work greatly. Give him enough time to really to it right.

I liked Inon Zur's music in DA:O, but was disappointed in the DA2 music. It just wasn't moving to me. I much prefered Jack Wall's music from Jade Empire. It was more memorable, imo.

I'm really not a big fan of Inon's work for Dragon Age. There are a few amazing tracks but that's it. The rest are average at best. Like someone said before the combat themes are boring. I really want a more melodic soundtrack with heightened emotion and drama.

Agreed.

It's overall decent, but most of it isn't that memorable.

I'm a big fan of both the DA and ME series, but the ME soundtracks are a lot better.

Especially the rushed DA2 which features some of the best music ever created for fantasy rpg.

Good joke.

I do want Inon Zur to come back for DA3. He did the music for the first two games and I think he did a fine job. I certainly don't see any reason to change since he's been with the series for the start and I think that his music fits Dragon Age perfectly. So if he's available and willing to do it then it should definitely be him.

I also want Inon Zur to come back for DA3, his work on Icewind Dale 1 was superb.

That's true I just thought of three songs from Jade Empire and I can't bring one DA song to mind right now.

As for Inon Zur... I liked his work on Fallout 3 a whole hell of a lot. And the music for the DA series isn't bad. But I wouldn't lose sleep if they got someone else.

Did Zur do Leliana's Song? If so that's the best thing he's done in the DA series. It was light and fun and mischevious. And then emotional and sad.

I mostly liked Inon's scores, especially DAO, so i'd like him to return.

They should however give him more time than DA2 (he has complained it was a rush job) and of course we want more Aubrey Ahsburn(she did the amazing vocals on some of the songs).

Even better would be a collaboration between Inon and another composer (Jack Wall or Greg Edmonson maybe).

Whatever, i hope Bioware realizes how important the soundtrack is to a game like Dragon Age.!

Good joke.

Let's leave aside please our personal preferences for dragon age 2 in general. (i did not like it in general but i think it has some neat ideas).
But :
I am not calling you a liar (i aknowledge the original from florence and the machine)
Hawk family theme (amell theme)
Fenris theme
Hanged man tavern day and night versions
Rogue heart

all these tracks were very memorable to me despite my dissapointment with the game while i was playing it.
Dont you like these tracks? If you remember them at all.

I quite like him but I understand why people wouldn't. Most of his songs have "soft" melodies and they really aren't the ones that stick in your head once you turn the game off.

But that is more what I like. The music is there, but it isn't there if you know what I'm saying.

how can anyone not remember In uthenera (the moment leliana sings?)
That scene is one of my favorite moments in gaming.
Part of this is the song. how can anyone not remember that one?

We've had a few of these threads lately. I don't mind Inon. He's capable for sure. But his work on DAO/DA2 seems very uninspiring to me. His music is usually incredible.

This is still my favorite song by him: Icewind Dale 2

I didn't mean you'll never remember them ever. But a soft melody with softer transitions doesn't get as hammered into your brain as easily. It has to do with brain stuffs that I learned years ago.

It was just a comment as to why I could understand some people wanting a change. I'm personally totally cool with it. I think DA is the only game where I have music from the composer on my MP3 player.

Jeremy Soule did Icewind Dale 1 and Inon did the second game. Yes, he did that track.

He has a few really good songs in DAO/DA2 but mostly, I don't think either game is up to his normal standards. Certainly not bad soundtracks, just not overly memorable either.

Yes surely there are tons of other soundtrack composers that are great. Hell , Bastilla's theme from Jeremy soule still haunts my mind. But one reason i got into Dragon age was the music.
The music is the soul of a game for me.
Tragic love from Inon in Lineage 2. This guy seriously catches the mood for medieval fantasy settings.
this is why i want him (not exclusively necesserily)

With the change in engine, I would actually be less bothered if they went with a different composer.

But I don't think they should change just for the sake of it. I would be just fine if Inon Zur continued to handle all the music.

I definitely do not want to see the title track farmed out to a different composer solely for marketing reasons. (Mansell's track was perfect, but I don't think there's anybody of similar caliber who can sub for DA.)

Inon Zur is fine by me but whoever composes the DA3 soundtrack she/he better be hired already. I don't want another rushed job and I doubt any composer will be pleased to work under a tight schedule.

Not to mention there were several soundtrack bugs (or simply bad sound design decisions) in DA2 and of all my four playthroughs the music has worked during the ending credits only once. Music is important, don't screw it up.
