There's nothing wrong with resurrecting a character, in and of it self, but it needs to be used sparingly if the writer is aiming to create a genuine sense of risk or fear. In comic books, for example, death is virtually meaningless because the vast majority of the characters who die get brought back later. Why should we give a **** if a character dies? We know they're coming right back. Their afterlife has some sort of revolving door policy thaat renders character death totally meaningless.
I personally don't like resurrection plot devices at all, so my general rule of thumb is that anybody important gets
one resurrection, max. Alternatively,
one character can be immortal. You can't have both in the same story.
