 Still bummed out that the Character and Romance subforums here are closed?  Fear not!  Because there is a brand new thread on Obsidian's Project Eternity boards!  Obsidian wants your input into what kind of relationships your character should be able have in their upcoming cRPG.  So while you're waiting for the Charcter & Romance threads here to open, why not head on over to there and explain to Obsidian how it's done?  I'm sure they'd love to hear from you! Romances shouldn't be in PE that's what I think.

Unless it serves a narrative,thematic or gameplay purpose there shouldn't be any "romance". The moment they start catering to the riff raff who want juvenile sexual wish fulfillment I'll lose all interest.

Based on the amount of attention they get you'd think there was plenty of romance content in these games and they were somehow... you know, actually GOOD but they barely constitute 1% of gametime at best and are incredibly cheesy(the priiiiize).

They have a few things they could do:

Avoid it: Bethesda/Obsidian in many games
Revel in it: Bioware
Pander it: CD Project

I mean Baulder's Gate 2 was nice, but more and more its just horribly forced.
But hey Chris Avellone is writing so its going to end badly because he does not like them

Actually I love romance.. Has for the people disagreeing with the romance and want it removed.. Well think of something in the game that you really really enjoy.. Let's remove it because I hate it and can't accept difference .. Oh Yeah .. Money could be spend somewhere.. Like .. I want poney in the game.

Try being more open-minded. You dislike something .. Great ( I'm not talking about anyone here.. I'm talking to people who seem to be on a war against people that enjoy romance) . Guess what Warrior, some of us purchase bioWare game because we do enjoy the romance in them and some of us expect to have them in their game. Hell I would probably purchase it if they removed it. If they do though .. I expect to remove soemthing you enjoy in the game. that I find useless. So that way they can make it fair and put the money in something we both enjoy. But than someone else will hate it .. Hmm. Sheesh it.. I leave it to BioWare to make that descision.

It's one of the few developper doing something like this .. So let's them have it. Hell you're not even forced to do them .. The only argument is ''Money could be spend elsewhere'' .. But me it's those people ... You know ... Those conformist superficial people going on a war bent trip against ''weird' folk enjoying them.. Why are you so concerned about what other enjoy ? Are you jealous that they just remain themselves. and have a personality ? What about you ? Are you hiding something from us ?

Today I decided to be open-minded and I love everyone.. So anyway .. Complan all you want.. I love reading complain.

I think it depends. I do enjoy some romance plots that were well developed. My favourite are Aribeth's romance plot in Hordes of the underdark and the one between the Nameless one and Grace in Planscape Torment. Those are all romances that were done right, but when devs abused these kinds of plot like those in ME2 and DA2, it just became painful to enjoy.
