Maybe a Mod can be made to 'Cut' the bad lines outta the voice file? If so, is this voice set salvagable?
the "Violent" voice is full of fail

No luck with the XML here, either: the "ladder" speech is driving me nuts.Lascivar wrote...
Albeit I haven't had any issues with changing the XML file, you can alternatively use the DAToolset to modify your latest savegame.. Last time I did it was for my character's appearance, but you can also change voices while you're there.
Any directions for how to change it with the toolset? Preferably as idiot-proof as possible, last time I tried changing a savegame with it, it would no longer load - and, rather suspiciously, had shrunk to around half its previous size. :/
I suppose I could start anew since I've just arrived at Ostagar, but I'd rather not, and it'd be useful to know anyway.
Edit: I think I've found a guide over here - http://social.biowar.../8/index/176308 - so I'll go and leer at it for a while...

Can I get you a ladder, so you can- JUST CALL ME THE REAPER!
But seriously, I love the Violent soundset. It's a matter of personal tastes.

Whats the point of the PC voice anyways? They don't even talk during dialog interactions so whats the point of having it for ambient things?

The party members will comment on ambient details and combat, so Bioware probably didn't want PCs to be left out there.

I have it on my dwarf who I made some time after I first heard this complaint. Maybe the warning is why it doesnt bother me
Just remade a Human Noble tonight and I was selecting voices and the 4th one down I think was terribly posh, I thought it would fit. Thank god I continued to click cus one of her voice emotes goes from plum to psuedo cockney; it was like My Fair Lady in reverse. I decided to stick with the reliable "Wise" option.

Right, changed it - but, though it loads successfully, I still have "savefile shrinkage", which may or may not be significant.
For the record, just in case anyone else wants to try (or make the same mistake!) I opened my most recent savefile in the toolset:
c:\\users\\(me)\\documents\\bioware\\dragon age\\characters\\(my character)\\saves\\(most recent save)\\(name).das
and changed the following:
Top Level Struct
> SAVEGAME_PLAYERCHAR
>> SAVEGAME_PLAYERCHAR_CHAR
>>> SAVEGAME_PLAYER_SOUNDSET ss_pc_felf_violent
>>> SAVEGAME_DEFAULT_SOUNDSET ss_pc_felf_violent
In both cases I altered the bits that say "ss_pc_felf_violent" as described a few posts back, changing violent to something, /anything/ else! Sigh, at least her name, Ammonia, was appropriate; but I'd still rather not listen to that voice...

i guess it makes it when you do a level up or add a skill. it has come back in full fashion.

I picked the violent voice at all times, but I wish there was a manic psychotic or a psychopath voice like in NWN.

Finally got the toolset working couple of days ago and changed the voice from there. Haven't noticed anything going wrong after that. Thanks everybody.
SneakySolidSnake, you need to use the toolset to edit the file. You can download it from the official game site.

Further to katjaki's reply, you need the Toolset which you can get here: http://social.biowar...page/da-toolset. If you've already downloaded it, make sure you have the current version - the previous one created unplayable saves for me. And back up your saves prior to using it anyway, just in case!SneakySolidSnake wrote...

Edit: tried to un-mangle the link: I wonder if it worked...
Another edit: also bear in mind that the download is huge, about 500 MB or so, I think.

I like the ladder line better than, "There is no honor in bloodshed!". C'mon. In every story driven video game ever made, it's ALL about honor through bloodshed. Also, after a few beers or what-have-you, the ladder line actually makes me laugh.
