Mods: if this is in the wrong area, I apologize, and please don't delete!

I just recieved my N7 Tech hoodie in the mail, and I'm pretty pleased with it. I remember reading quite a few posts where people were concerned with its weather resistance, longevity, etc. I decided to run a few household tests... keep in mind, I am not a QA person, nor am I a scientist.

For each of these tests, I wore my jacket zipped instead of testing it as a stand-alone.

Test 1, Heat Resistance: I held my arm up in front of my blowing heater (1 foot away) for 2 minutes. After 60 seconds, I felt the interior fabric become slightly warm, but my arm and the sleeve's internal air temp stayed the same.

Test 2, Cold Resistance: I held my arm inside of my freezer in such a way so that most of the cold air was blowing directly upon the sleeve. After 30 seconds, I felt the interior fabric become cool. After 60 seconds, my elbow became slightly cool, but the air inside of my sleeve and the rest of my arm felt normal. Once 2 minutes had passed, there was no further temperature variation. I believe the temperature was felt quickly because I was not moving around to build up body heat.

Test 3, Containment: I live in Kansas, and there is currently a dust storm going on outside. If you don't believe me, then look it up :bandit:
The storm isn't anywhere near as bad as the Dust Bowl of the 30s in America, but it was strong enough to make the sun seem totally blurry. I could not see the blue sky beyond; it was all a brown haze. Further, the dust was too diffuse to immediately cause breathing problems. For the record: the storm was not intense enough to cause safety issues when walking or working outdoors for a short period of time (1 hour +)
I put on a wet, white t-shirt, put on my hoodie, cinched the waist and hood straps very tightly, and took a 15 minute walk outdoors. When I returned, I laid my shirt on the table and flipped the jacket inside out.
After the t-shirt dried, I examined it and found it to be totally free of stains or blemishes. The jacket's interior looked no different, so I smelled both garments. The jacket's interior, nearest to my waist, smelled faintly dusty. The sleeve interiors near the wrist hem smelled faintly dusty. The rest of the interior jacket smelled normal.

Test 4, Water Resistance: I threw the jacket on, and stood in my shower. My intent was to stay for 1 minute, but after 10 seconds the freezing cold water soaked through.

Those are my results. Your jacket and results may differ.

Pros: It's an awesome jacket, lots of neat pockets to store my things. The fabric feels good, and is very comfortable against my skin. The wear is also comfortable, and the stitching is even and well-done. This jacket will stand well in a temperate environment. The straps are different from what I'm used to, but they are not fussy. I believe it will stand well under a light - medium rain for a short time, due to the low intensity of such weather.

Cons: This jacket will not likely keep you dry during a heavy rain (approximately the same intensity as water from a shower). It's pricier than your average hooded jacket. Owners must wash this jacket with cold water only to prevent the red stripe from bleeding unsightly color (as indicated on the tag)

My thoughts: I like this a lot, and will replace my current hoodie with this tech jacket. It's very nicely made, with no tacky decals to worry about. The stitching was done with care, and the zipper also had the N7 logo.

Our winters rarely hit -10 F, and I don't like wearing winter coats; I wear hoodies, as I'm only outside for a brief time before going indoors. It's worth the purchase, IMHO. It's a good buy for gamer-love and for casual wear. If you're going on an adventure in the arctic, swimming in a pool, or roaming through the desert while hunting bad guys, then this jacket will obviously not work for such rugged escapades

I remember some people wanted to know about the fabric... apparently some people had the armor stripe decals flake away after months of washing or so. The interior fabric is very soft and feels like fleece. The mesh for the interior pockets is soft and comfortable against the skin; they are also a bit stretchy. This jacket has no decals; the armor stripes are fabric, stitched directly onto the sleeves. The N7 logo is not a decal, and is embroidered onto the jacket.

I hope this review helps to answer some questions <3

Good review. Although I am pleased with my jacket overall, I did find the way it fit a little weird. However, I think I am used to it. My only complaint would be the fact that the sleeves at the wrists do not have those stretchy bands that hoodies and other jackets regularly come with. Not sure if I make myself clear there, but I just feel like I am a monk with those sleeves. I like everything else about it so far.

Ha, I think I ordered my jacket a size too large, because my sleeves are too long for me :P

Great review, I have an original N7 hoodie with the decals and was wondering about this one. I don't know if I'll pick it up, but it looks wonderful.

I just received my jacket last week and I think I know what you mean.  I believe that it's due to the way it's been put together.  If you look on the back of the hoodie, you'll notice that it's divided into two pieces of fabric and stitched across horizontally (somehwere near the middle of the back.  I think that may be the cause why it feels 'weird' or maybe tighter than other hoodies.  Now I'm not sure what the purpose is as I'm not a seamster, but I think that it works to give a 'tighter' fit, much like the hidden drawstrings for the waist to give it a more fitted look.

Great jacket overall, but my one big complaint is the mesh lining of the pockets. I like putting my hands in my pockets for warmth, the lack of solid fabric there kind of makes that impossible on chilly days. The main N7 zipper also feels very flimsy on mine.

I was worried my sleeves would be too loose after reading your post because I'm pretty damn skinny. Thankfully, it wasn't a problem. They just aren't as tight as regular hoodies, but not exactly loose.

I have a question if you don't mind. Could this be worn as a proper jacket with, lets say, another hoodie inside or is it more akin to a hoodie in itself and thus a bit to tight?

It's a fairly tight fitting, athletic hoodie. I definitely would not recommended wearing another hoodie underneath. It would both look and feel pretty silly I'd imagine.

From the pictures, it looks like the stripe panel is split into equal thirds white, red, white...quite a design oversight, since the red stripe is supposed to be thicker. The general rule of thumb is that the white stripes are about the thickness of the red one when put together.

Even though I hate the velcro on it, I'd have to say I prefer my Elite hoodie. It's very soft inside and out and the high collar is a godsend when it's really cold, because I hate it when my neck is cold. All my other hoodies and jackets expose my neck too much. I also like having sleeve cuffs and elastic on the bottom...without it jackets look rather blocky on me.

A tip for the fabric stripes: wash the hoodie inside-out, that'll keep the red stripe from fading over the course of a couple washes.

I also have the printed version in Navy from about a year ago. I haven't had any problem with the iron-on transfers flaking. Maybe the newer ones have cheaper ink, but I also take care to wash that one inside-out and I don't put it in the dryer on high heat - permanent press, low, or air-dry only.

I love the new n7 tech jacket as well. It's warm and it is very great quality. The only complaint that I have is that the N7 logo was sewn on line by line and it started to peel on day 2 :( I was able to remove one line with a nail clipper to make it look normal again
