Anyone else having this issue? I registered my game then redeemed my code for the three exclusive items. They downloaded fine but now when I start the game it tells me they're unauthorized.

I should add that, yes. I am logged into the account that I registered the game under.

You are not alone. I have the same problem.

I can't load a save game because it "contains premium content".

Actually I think I've figured it out. It happened to me all the time, after a restart of the game and logging in again, I didn't get the Unauthorized message. So I figured the DA updater service has something to with it, as it doesn't start up in time to check your online permissions, so I configured it to start automatically at system startup, and now I don't get the Unauthorized problem anymore. Hope this helps.

If the DLC Updater Service is not running, you need to start it. I make sure its started first then run the game.

Run services.msc

Find Dragon Age Content Updater Service

Start Service

Run Game

By default it's supposed to start manually with the game, but when you skip the intro scenes it doesn't have enough time to do so. So yeah, either start it manually before starting the game or set it to start automatically during boot. I just find autostart more comfortable... :)

I have the same problem. I've tried manually starting the content updater (both before and during the game), automatically starting the content updater, logging in and out, auto-logging in, running as administrator, and every combination of these things and The Stone Prisoner still shows unauthorized for me.

This needs to be fixed. I just had this issue as well. New form of DRM that doesnt even allow me to play the darn game Ive paid for. This is working its way to Starforce fame in my book.

The DLC works fine offline, if you need help installing it correctly see the technical forum for your platform whee multiple "fixes" for improper setup are shown.

Good luck.

I have the same problem and my solution is/was simple: Stay. Away. From. DLC. It's pathetic "they" thought it was an insanely bright idea to put DLC in a system level service.

No dough for DLC from me untill the Update is KILLED and coded into the game itself.

Hmmm, I tried that and I get a message saying that the service started and then stopped and that some services stop when they're not needed. The weird thing that's happening for me is, if I log off, my DLC works, but if I log in with the only account I've ever created to play the game with, then it says the DLC is unauthorized. I never had that problem until today. Now it won't let me load any of my OC save games while logged in. Image IPB

Patch 1.03, which was included with Awakening, has some fixes for the DA Content Updater Service included, but the patch installer doesn't always seem to completely get all the Windows settings completely configured correctly afterwards.  Running the DA Update Service Diagnostic Beta seems to get the service back in a good state.  It includes the same fixes, but also does a better job of checking to make sure that its configured correctly.

Ooh, thank you very much!  That seems to have worked.  I'll have to bookmark that for future reference. Image IPB
