Hmmm, I tried that and I get a message saying that the service started and then stopped and that some services stop when they're not needed. The weird thing that's happening for me is, if I log off, my DLC works, but if I log in with the only account I've ever created to play the game with, then it says the DLC is unauthorized. I never had that problem until today. Now it won't let me load any of my OC save games while logged in. Image IPB

Patch 1.03, which was included with Awakening, has some fixes for the DA Content Updater Service included, but the patch installer doesn't always seem to completely get all the Windows settings completely configured correctly afterwards.  Running the DA Update Service Diagnostic Beta seems to get the service back in a good state.  It includes the same fixes, but also does a better job of checking to make sure that its configured correctly.

The DA Update Service Diagnostic Beta worked for me! Thank you very much! :o

Didn't help me at all.  The fact that the game even needs a service to do this is pretty weird, since the updater service should only be writing to the Documents folder anyway (rather than an admin-protected folder), and the fact that the thing doesn't even start unless I run the game in admin mode is a sign of just plan sloppy coding.  This is a major annoyance and potential security hole, and needs to be fixed.

I still have the problem - the DA Update Service Diagnostic Beta didn't do anything for me, neither did cleaning the game's cache....

All dlcs appear on my user entitlement page but in game they all claim to be unauthorized - even when I'm logged out.

I just reinstalled windows after a couple of month of gameless linux-only computing so it's a completely fresh system. And the game downloaded all that stuff after all so at some level it must know I'm entitled....

I have the didigtal deluxe version by the way if that makes any difference

hrm deleting some xml files in the dragon age dir nder my documents as described somewhere here helped (although all dlc had to be redownloaded) - now i purchased return to ostagar and guess what....

Yup - all others are unauthorized again.

I'm not a big friend of the DLC concept (and things like the darkspawn chronicles seem to strengthen that) but if it has to be there can it at least just work the way it's supposed to?

ARGH - now I moved Dragon Age to another HD and realized DLC don't seem to work at all if it's not on the partition as "my documents". This is unacceptable. I don't want a game to dictate how to organize my hard drives. Has anyone heard about plans regarding a fix for all the various DLC issues?

I have a very small system HD which is already divided by two for two operating systems. And while DA fits on my windows partition atm it does so just barely and I don't feel good working out of an almost full system partition. (yes working - the thing that's more important than playing DAO and shouldn't have to be compromised just by installing a game and guying some DLC)

The DA Update Service Diagnostic Beta didn't do anything for me either. It gave me an error message half way through though;

You must use "Turn Windows features on or off" in the Control Panel to install or configure Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 SP2.

Also, could the reason for my DLC being un-authorized be that my Dragon Age is installed on a different HDD than the HDD that My Documents is on?

Sadly I'll have to bump this thread. Both the service (re)start as the diagnostic tool didn't fix anything for me. The funny thing is, it's still rather random. Yesterday I played everything without any problems. Today, even after 15 minutes waiting it still couldn't authenticate the Stone Prisoner, the Keep DLC (can't remember the name) and the festivity items... This is getting rather annoying, especially if you can't start up a single DLC that you are entitled to (i.e. Leilana's song), since it requires you to have activated this 'premium content'...

I have the same issue, what I do is go into the file where the DLC is located, drag and drop to my desktop. Start the game... then I go and make sure that the content isnt int he DLC area of the main menu. Close the Game. Then I drag and drop it back into the windowI pulled it from. Start the game and it works. I think it's retarded I have to do that, but at least it works.

I've never had any problems with DLC so far... at least until today... Now i'm stuck with GoA and WH, both unauthorized... I've tried all the things i've spotted on topic all over this forum, but non of that works (beta "thingy" , changing auth service to auto, restarting this service, loggin on/off, turning autologin off, restarting game, pc, cleaning xml...). And so it happens that after 2 hours of this "game" i'm kinda pissed off... because i really didn't bought this one... I hope *somebody* will fix this soon, because it's really pi**ing a lot of people off (including me ofc)...

If any of you have problems that can't be fixed by the steps/methods listed above, let me know and I'll PM you the instructions that EA sent me to fix the problem, although it WILL WIPE your unofficial DLC, but you can just back that up.

Ok, mabye i'll write you, but i just have to vertify one thing before that...

I was thinking, if it wasn't like in Mass Effect 2, where you can't even install latest dlc (Shadow Broker) as long as you have another than eng version of the game. This problem can be easily fixed by changing entry in registry, but that didn't worked on Dragon Age, so i had to reinstall the game, clean registry and install it with eng lang (which will eventually be plus too, cause czech translation sux hard (but not even remotly as hard as in ME2) ). Unfortunatelly i didn't have time to actually install all the dlc and vertify this idea. So, i'll let the game today do DL and install all DLC and then i'll submit a report.

EDIT (Due to unwanted doublepost)
Well...
I've reinstalled the game, again, but this time i've installed it with english voices/text (so no native **** ingame) and all my dlc are working just fine (DAO->DAA->1.04->DLCs). So theres bug either in dlc or the latest 1.04 patch (when you have native language in-game). I know, stupid, crappy, but that the *thing* that allowed me to play GoA and WH.

So, thx Mikkon for you offer, but i don't need it anymore :)

And btw, the game wasn't modded at all...

Good luck everybody with disinfesting your bugs.

* Run services.msc from the Run menu option in Windows. Pressing the Windows key + R will bring up your Run menu. Simply type "services.msc" into the window and click OK.

*

o NOTE: Services.msc controls essential components of Windows. Errors in configuration can prevent the system from operating correctly. Any changes you make in services.msc are made at your own risk.

* Find the Dragon Age: Origins Updater service in the list.

* Double-click on the service to bring up the properties.

* Press the Start button if the service is not currently running.

* Change Startup type to Automatic.

* Close the Properties and Services interface.

this is what i did and now all of my dlc works.

Big thanks to Arlana Tabris for posting a link to EA's solution to blank Downloadable Content page.

dont know how to link to another forum pots, so just go to the empty "downloadable content" menu thread if you want to read it.

As i said already, i've tried ALL stuff here on forum and it didn't work (and yes, i saw this one)... Also i saw that really huge post from someone where there was pointers how to clean stuck installation etc... As I said, i've wasted like 4 hours on this **** and only thing that actually helped me was reinstalling the game into english version (my native translation was crappy anyway). So, apparently, there so many variables that could bug dlc that we cant even dreamed of...

I've been having the same problem. I've been playing DA:O for a while now and just recently did I buy all the DLC's. All of them installed and the only one with this stupid "Unauthorized" nonsense is Witchhunt.

I've fixed this problem before, with The Stone Prisoner and Warden's Keep, via this page: http://support.ea.co...z0*&p_topview=1

I just want to know is there NO other way to fix the problem? Because with the above method, ALL the DLC's get removed and ALL of them need to re-downloaded and re-installed. Is there another method to fix it where only Witchhunt is removed, re-downloaded and re-installed?? Quite frankly I'm sick and tired of having the reinstall everything again. And now I can't even access my new game that I created!

Can anybody help me?? Would really really appreciate it.

I'm having this issue AGAIN, having fixed it by all the methods listed in this thread before, run the diagnostic tool, etc. But I think the problem is that even though it says I'm logged in, DAO is not actually connected to the servers, because my Bioware points don't show up, and I'm unable to purchase.

I know it's not my router, because I've connected just fine in the past. If the DA servers are down, then they've been down for a few days.

I can play the game fine when I'm not logged in, because all my DLC is authorized in addins.xml, but I wanted to buy the feastday combo package to address the Leliana problem, which obviously hasn't been fixed. I hadn't played DAO since last year and forgot about that issue with her personal quest. Looks like it's back to console commands for me.

It's very irritating that I purchased points and can't use them.

Edit: Can't use Warden's Keep without connecting to the server as well. <_<

4/13: Today, it has mysteriously fixed itself! Must have been something with the servers.

I'm just today having this problem as well. I can't see my Bioware points and if I try to click "Buy" it tells me too that I can't connect to the servers, although I can get here with no problem. The content I own shows up fine on my registered games page. I've changed the updater service to automatic but no luck. The diagnostic tool error messaged half way through.

Omg. I have had this problem for months, and after deleting the files they recommended, (and thereby corrupting ALL of my installed EA games, which required a week's worth of re-downloading/reinstallation via the EADM), and then looking for the (missing) Dragon Age: Origins Updater, and spending many hours with support to no avail, it is now working.

I got it to work using the DA Update Service Diagnostic Beta, and then following by running services.msc, and starting the Dragon Age: Origins Updater (which was now there).

I am so incredibly happy that I now get to play the game content I purchased =P
