I think the point trying to be put across by many is that the ppl with the lone wolf banner DON'T infact feel they are awesome in some way, they got it just coz it sounded kinda cool, and was as you say decoration, but the 'haterz' think that the ones with the banner think they are in some way awesome for having it....if that makes any sense. and it does in fact boil down to haterz gonna hate.

See, in that case, the banner still means nothing...seeing the Character, horde or credits and other players, my brian tells me..."Platinum Regular, you cannot beat this." And I think it's right...

It's actually very relevant IMO. It means that you can generally hold a wave if everybody else dies out. And one doesn't need a Kroguard to solo a wave.

As of now there are 2184 possible combinations of kit+map+enemy (without the hazard versions), Lone Wolf means that you did one of them solo on gold twice or two of them once and some silver/bronze solos, nothing else.

It does not tell how well you will do using another kit, map or enemy, or if you can synergize with the team.
Its the same as every other banner, nice to look at, but it does not prevent the "lone wolf" from dying first.

Yeah, rough sequence of games earlier today, needed to vent. Banner stays off though, more hassle than it's worth to be frank, which imo is not such a good thing. I did it initially in that I thought the message it would send is 'I am a competent player, and I can clutch if the **** hits the fan', not 'I am better than you and you should resent me for it', or 'don't worry about trying, I'll do everything'.

There's a limited number of classes I can make gold solos work with, depending on map and faction (Kroguard, AA & AJ, Fury, Paladin and SE). Even then I need luck. I haven't managed to get past wave 4 on platinum, though I've only tried a few times, but even then, I suspect my concentration isn't quite up to it. So I'm a limited player, several notches below the Red Johns of the world. And I'm ok with that. Anyone who asked me would get a straight forward answer. But people just seem to make all kinds of assumptions about what this banner represents, and ought to represent, and to me it just isn't a signal I wish to send, so it's off, and staying off. And it's a shame, cos I do like the way it looks, but it isn't worth an extra layer of grief when all I want to do is enjoy playing the game, hopefully alongside competent players.

Incidentally all of this Lone Wolf silliness only encouraged me to keep my LW banner on. The Lone Wolfe "controversy" has made it the least boring banner in the game right now.
