If Shepard's trilogy is destined to stay lying in that rubble. I'm not buying anymore Mass Effect games. It would be a betrayel to my emotions and if BioWare honestly think I will ever trust them again with my immersion. They can **** off.
Bioware: "Absolutely no more Shepard. We don´t want Shepard 2.0" New Hero for Mass Effect 4

Why Bioware is so determined to leave Shepard's fate in such a dismal state is beyond me. Shepard is a cash cow and they are hell bent on dropping the character that gave them so much cred in the community.

I'm going to miss the cast of the original trilogy, but I'm really looking forward to meeting new characters and visiting new locations and time periods... Gonna be SWEEEEEEET.
And as for what I'd like from the next game, I think melee based classes/weapons and multiple playable races would be a good start... And a pet varren squadmate. xD

A new protagonist, and a pre-ME3 setting, would be most welcome. Post ME3 makes things... complicated. Either they go with the IT, alienating everyone who thought the idea was stupid, they canonize a single ending, alienating everyone that chose differently, or they trivialize the ending choice so much that it doesn't matter in the next game, which would annoy everyone. A new story, pre ME3, which is independent of Reapers and Shepard is my ideal next-installment.

While I understand Bioware has repeatedly stated Shepard will no longer be the star of the show so to speak. I hope that it isn't an attempt the eliminate his inclusion in the next mass effect game in its entirety. Meaning there is some potential in a possible cameo or separate role depending on the save game uploaded given previous statements that we should hold on to our ME 3 saves. That there might be a conutation of our story line Shepard or not. Given how Shepard has shaped the mass effect lore it would be extremely strange to write him out with out a prequel or a odd story choice.

First i must say that i agree with Bioware that they will make a new series with the basic of Mass Effect (Third-Person Shooter/Action Adventure/RPG). Mass Effect is something special. It might be like an own genre. I agree with the end of Shepard's story and this universe, too. But I want to know what will happen with Shepard after the Destory ending. I missed this in the Extended Cut DLC. But there are place for new DLCs so we can hope.
So the New Serie will be a Third-Person Shooter/Action Adventure/RPG, but even completely independent from the Mass Effect Triology.
First my formal structure for the new series:
-Third-Person Shooter/Action Adventure/RPG
-your decisions will important, like we know in Mass Effect
-at least 30h story gameplay and with all missions about 50h gameplay
I won't buy it, if it has only 10h or 15h gameplay, even if I know how epic the Mass Effect Triology was. I will look at it as a new series.
As the kind of Mass Effect, for me the Genre: Mass Effect or Third-Person Shooter/Action Adventure/RPG you need a conflict and the protagonist with his surroundings. I have a few ideas, but they are very roughly.
I want him to be in a space ship like in Mass Effect and you need a big station like Citadel or Omega. The discos like at Omega or the Purgatory are very nice, too and dark places like the Collector Base or the Collector Ship.
I don't have a congret idea for a conflict yet.

It doesn't have to be addressed in game, whatever, and it's not me making a demand. For something that was billed at the conclusion of Shepard's story, it was left on the rubble.
That said, bring on more Mass Effect!!

I have no problem with this. Shepard is, as far as I care, a player-representation within the game universe. Shepard is the tool that I use to pal around with Garrus and Mordin and to shoot giant metal monsters.

Except, what's the point of a game set before ME3? What choices are you going to make that will have an effect on the ME universe when we already know what happens?
It's going to be hard to care when you know Shepard is fighting the Reapers, and whatever it is you're doing doesn't add up to a whole lot.

I'll continue to follow any ME3 DLC that features the squad, but my investment in this franchise doesn't extend beyond that anymore.

Not really interested in getting invested in a new character's story if they might end it in "he/she may be alive or dead, you decide!".
Sure, they'll say in development "Oh there will be multiple endings! We won't pull a LOST! Everyone's ending is different! Choices!" just like they did before ME3.

I understand you're mad but aren't you overrating Shepard a bit?
Shepard isn't really a defined character. If they made the next protagonist just as customizable as Shepard then they would largely have the same impact.

Yes, and they also said that ME3 endings would be totally unlike anything in the industry... which turned out to be exactly identical to Deus Ex: Human Revolution.
But they weren't. Not even remotely close. People who continually make the comparison to DX:HR or DX1 confuse the hell out of me.
There's some tangental concepts in common, but a lot of video games use those basic concepts, to say those concepts are directly taken from one game is silly. The endings aren't even remotely similar.
And really, most of the "pre-release lies" weren't even lies. What happened was a difference between what the player interpreted and what the developer meant. What happened was that ME3 failed to live up to the hype players gave it. Which frankly isn't a surprise because player hype is always a little outrageous.
