So Bioware throws a marketable popular character under the bus..
That's what confuses me. I know some people legitmately want a new protagonist, but I don't think this population would also be
against more Shepard if, in an alternate universe with different ME3 endings, that was the direction BW wanted to go.
People do love Shepard. And why wouldn't we? Commander Shepard is an avatar, is a template, and is different for everyone (and can be different every time for the same player). I don't think media consumers can get sick of a template RPG character in the same way they can get sick of an established character. And in an RPG, not only is it hard to get
sick of your individualized character, but it's hard to ever want to give him/her up.
While I understand the need to freshen up the franchise with a new protagonist, I think that BW is projecting the "shelf life" of established characters, instead of considering the (probably considerably longer) shelf life of a Shepard character.
