Bottom line... you can't. You cannot trust Bioware and they have gone out of their way to prove that to us. They have made no effort to rectify their lies about the game pre-release.iakus wrote...

If Shepard's trilogy is destined to stay lying in that rubble. I'm not buying anymore Mass Effect games. It would be a betrayel to my emotions and if BioWare honestly think I will ever trust them again with my immersion. They can **** off.
If my last image of Shepard is his broken, burned body lying in a pile of rubble, why in the world would I want to return to this universe? How can I trust Bioware won't drop a bridge on my next character? (yes, "my" character. This is still an rpg, after all)
Heck, how can I be sure they won't just take the character away from me whenever "the Narrative" demands it? Just like with ME3. I can understand wanting to make ME3 smply go away. But ignoring it's not going to make that happen
Edit: If Shepard got a decent ending, I'd have no problem with having a new protagonist for the next Mass Effect game

We'll get some prequels, some ****ty spin offs, then the future EA Edmonton that will inevitably come out of Bioware's namesake crash due to EA stuffing so many random studios into it (Mythic, Victory, etc) will canonize the destroy ending and bring Shepard back, it will be a triumphant return to the glory days of the series just like Halo 4 is being championed as.
Hopefully by then Mac Walters will have moved on to soil another green pasture.

Hell, if that's the way it's gonna go, let's hope he and Casey stick with ME and avoid ruining other good franchises... if there even are any.Doctor Moustache wrote...

Shepard deserved better than to be left lying under a pile of citadel rubble in the destroy ending and well if you picked synthesis or control then I guess you should be happy with the ending as is.

Most everyone here agrees with you. It's clear Bioware has gotten the message and simply chosen not to give fans what they want.AndreasShepard wrote...
Having no more Shepard is a mistake, they should at least give him/her a proper sendoff though for the final ME3 DLC.

You know...I honestly don't get it. This is the first time I've visited the story forums in a while, and if people still don't like the endings...why don't they just fix them? I mean no offense, I am just trying to illustrate the flaw with this type of thinking. People didn't like ME1, ME2, DA2, Halo 2, RE5, Rage, Oblivion, and so on. Why didn't the respective companies fix those games? Just because there is fan backlash does not mean alterations are inevitable. In the case of ME3, there actually were changes in response to the backlash in the form of the EC DLC. That DLC obviously wasn't a cure for all issues concerning the endings, but as Dean_the_Younger said, there will unfortunately always be a disappointed faction of a consumer base. People may continue to give feedback, I am in no way telling those with legitimate criticism to shut up. What I am saying is don't always expect your labors to yield fruit.

YAWN! Stop with the menopausal girly whining FFS.
Way to slam all females in your attempt to insult a few ME fans. Got any non-gendered insults up your sleeve?
In other news, I'm fine with Shep's story ending with ME3; although, like others, I'd like some actual closure to her story. I am worried that they are going to change too much that made ME a success to begin with. I've heard that they don't want to do a trilogy anymore; the unique idea of carrying your story across three games really drew me to the franchise and I hope they reconsider. I'm also not interested in an MMO or FPS. I want story and characters. I can go to plenty of other franchises for another experience. I'm just afraid they are going to make ME a drastically different game than what drew me to it in the first place. There is nothing else like it out there; they need to capitalize on that not make it more of the same.

Thought they already said the ME3 was the end of Shepard's story arc?
Yes. Repeatedly. Casey said it. Miek Gamble & Mac Walters have said it. Jessica and I have said it.
Commander Shepard's adventures took place in ME1-ME3 (and DLCs). We are working on another ME game, but it is not a Commander Shepard game.
We have no other details as to what the new ME game will be, who what where when, etc it will be. It will likely be over a year before we start talking about what the new game will be, but you're welcome to contribute what you would like to see in it until then.

But anyway - my Shep got up from the rubble, buried Anderson & stayed on Earth to rebuild (with Ash of course).
He also currently has a sideline as my Assault Colonel in UFO-Enemy Unknown.....
