You seem to be having the greatest difficulty (based on posts in this forum) making a character smile. Yes, it's annoying that this is a difficult task - but there's more to the toolset than animation. Perhaps your questions about cutscenes and animation would be better asked in the cutscene forum?
Also, it's the holiday season... people might be away celebrating Christmas, New Year's Eve... just a thought.

As stated, the community is not dead. But everyone is still learning the toolset. Perhaps if you had some specific questions about issues that are causing problems, you might find some more help?

I'm just glad that you two responded.
I'm happy with that

i heard of modders being able to add custom races(human races, mind you) but cound not find any way to mod that myself
In the nexus i found new hairstyles(even if they are mostly anime style)
The wiki is a nice idea but it is not much help at the moment, SilentCids video tutorials are quite good to learn the basics but beyond that it is really hard to find help...
I must be patient

Did you want to model something in a 3d modeller and create new textures?
You could easily make a facial morph for your new race characters. Need help with that?
Jot down what makes up your new race and i'll try to help you.

I'm starting to get somewhere... but I figure it's gonna take a bit before we have people who can help for the hard stuff.

Yeah, it ain't easy for sure... I had 0 experience scripting before picking this up, I learn a lot just by dissassembling the single player files and scripts, jotting down where ingame I see stuff I want to reproduce and picking the devs' brains from their script comments. Can't be the only one snailpace developping this way, but eh, it works!

You can try other sites, if you like, but this one get the most forum traffic by far, and is the most likely place to find an answer.

I found tutorials for backgrounds and classes, but not for races.
Started to implement a new background for my standalone module and it is working but couldn't find anything regarding editing races...
(on topic)
the nexus and damods are ok, but there is just not that much tutorial stuff out there...
dysecting code and trying different edits of 2das crached my game and the toolset, but i reinstalled and will try again with caution.
frankly sometimes i need someone to lead me by the hand show me how its done...

Edit RACE_base.xls and backgrounds.xls, using the tutorial on the wiki for backgrounds as a guide. As soon as I have a working set of models for a race I have in mind, I might do a race tutorial.

@ladydesire: i'll look into it more and good luck with you models
@JackFuzz: http://social.bioware.com/forum/1/topic/8/index/506217 here are some ideas.
I know how to edit morphs and how to export them to *.mop for the character creator. but i want to see the names in my module and know how to keep those races apart so that i have not just human but "Rhongar" and "Thorakh" for humans and "Ailve" or "Aisailve" for elves and no dwarves...
