If there is one thing I would like to change about late BW games, it's that - add the option "skip intro movie" completely. At least after the first run.

Don't get me wrong, those movies are well done but any perfectionist out there hate them from CC point of view. For whatever reason, the picture on CC screen and the one in the game are different. You can not be sure how your character will look in cut scenes or simply within game world. So, some of us have to make many attempts before they can get their character just right. And those un-skippable prologue movies is such a pain...

Dear developers, is it really a serious technical challenge to add that skipping? We could do it in DAO but not in any game after it.

I support prologue skipping.

Also I would like the option to skip entire acts of the game.

I actually hope DA3 opens with the character creator. And we start off with our character and get into some kind of gameplay about 7-9 minutes into the game. Avoid all the massive lulls at the beginning of the more recent (although mostly ME) BioWare game openings.

I don't see the point in the intro sequence from Dragon Age II, and I think it should be avoided in Dragon Age III. Having Varric say that Hawke was a Caucasian Ferelden simply comes across as uncomfortable if you intend to make a non-white Hawke.

I would prefer something like the DA2 Mirror of Transformation over a dry character creator or skip-able intro.

Mass Effect 2 is a great example of a game that starts with a totally awesome action sequence that hooks a player into the world then tosses them into the character creator. Yeah - replaying an intro to fiddle with your character's eyebrows is frustrating. But I feel there's a greater benefit to the intrigue of a nice intro.

Some food for thought, slightly related:

Actually, the beginning of ME 2 is exactly why I'm not actively replaying it.  You can only watch the Normandy get destroyed and then sit through the Lazarus DeM so many times.

I don't mind the intros but it might be better if the character creator is just right at the start (like in Origins) and also if there is some kind of face changer (like DA2's mirror) in the game but make it a main game thing and not dlc.

Personally, I play Bioware games for the story. If an option is there to skip the story thats ok with me, but I would never want the story cut or made less important to the overall game !

I agree. ME 2 was really bad in that regard. I'm a real perfectionist when it comes to creating my characters and it was such a PAIN to have to rewatch/replay that intro sequence so often. It was really well done and I loved it, but I've seen it so many times that it lost it's appeal.

I love ME2 prologue personally. As much as i generally enjoy DA2, its prologue annoys me because there's that bit with generic Hawke which just gets my goat. I really hope they don't repeat that and instead do the character creation first before the intro.

Well, we found already 3 ways to do it:

1. Separate CC. Though, stand-alone application is an additional work and unlikely we can see something like that.
2. Simply begin the game from CC and add Prologue after that.
3. Skipping button. At least for the second (and so on) run.

Those games are made for multiply runs, why not make it a bit easier?

And option 1 is only available for PC users.
I think that we'll be able to skip the DA 3 intro, though. It was possible in DA:O and in DA 2 we had to go through that prolouge mostly to make a point. That there is a story about the Champion out there, but that Varric is one of the few who know the truth.
So unless they plan to do another narration, which is unlikely, I don't think the intro will be unskippable.

I liked ME/ME3/DAO ala CC, then opening level. I hated the one in ME2(Shepards face look bad in-game, you have to go through a 15 minute unskipable cutscene again!) and DA2 you had the defaulthawke action which kinda felt odd, why noit give us the CC THEN the Varric tall tale?

A better solution is to make the prologue enjoyable enough that I don't want skip it.

If the intro is like the one in da:o and not featuring the protagonist, then I don't mind if they place the CC after the intro. Espicially not if they autosave when entering the cc so that we can reupload from that point again.

Yeah, I never understood why you couldn't make your character before that cutscene, especially since I never really played "white" Hawkes too much. Kinda makes it feel like you would be less larger than life if you weren't white (ok, family upbringing, shut up, I'm sure they don't have anything against other races.....<_<)

But some have mentioned a DA:O styled not-showing-your-protag intro. I liked that a lot. It sets up my game for me, so I let it play. And I can skip it if I want to.

I still rather have cc before intro like ME/ME3.

When I start the game, I want to go to the character creation. Anything before it should be skippable, and really I don't want all that much before it.

Psychologically, I don't think I'm properly engaged in the game until I've created the character.

They should have the CC show up right after I press "new game".

There's no reason for there to be some intro movie before, absolutely no reason.

Better beards for the character creator would be nice as well.

I think all these problems go away if the "Mirror of Transformation" becomes "Customize" on the menu and is accessible at any time.  Tired of your eyebrows?  Change them.  Were the eyebrows always that way in your headcanon or is there some explanation for why it looked one way then and another way now...up to you.  Things like nose size and hair color don't affect the game so you should be able to change them anytime.  People that don't like the ability to change such things don't have to.  Things like gender and class can affect the story and so it makes sense to keep those locked after creation.

I hate to bring this up again... Dragon Age Origins did it right in the beginning.

I liked the Mirror of Transformation in DA2. Keep gender, class and race locked after initial creation.

This. Absolutely. I'd like to see the CC first; then an amazing prologue/intro--that is skippable for those times when it's your 3rd or 4th playthru; then this mirror in game if tweaks need to be made to an unexpected wonky looking PC so that we don't have to go all the way back and start over.

And sometimes you have to because the PC you created is  just...... and unbearable to look at the whole game.

Yes. yes. yes.
Also, yes.

I hated playing with makeup because it always ended up looking awful (always too noticable) but I hated, with DA2, that I couldn't fix anything till Act 1 (I preordered, like an idiot, so I had the mirror, though I wish I could customize my siblings and mom too).

I would also just like to either 'esc' and go straight to the creator, or start with the creator. Just don't repeat the DA2 movie, please! :crying:
