One of the things i often remember fondly from old school rpgs such as Baldurs Gates, Planscape "Torment" or Fallout is their visual style of UI. It was very detailed and beautiful. You could see that actually devs put a bit of work into it. Personally, Dragon Age annd mass effect franchises (as good as they were/are) left me with a feeling of disappointment in that regard. It seems that not a lot of effort has been put in to them. It is just a very plain box in one color with neccesarry stuff thrown into it (stats, skills or text). Codex usually uses some very common font. I have always felt there is a big room for improvment . For example, DA codex notes and letters could have been presented on a piece of paper with a cool font chosen to resemble actual handwriting. Things like that could be rather easy and probably cheap to make (i have no clue actually how much it would cost but if low badget games can handle that then Bioware certainly wouls aswell).
So yea i do hope that we will see some improvment in thar area of field in upcoming Dragon Age game. Just my 2 cents
