Alright here is a explanation of what happened:
- Friday, the challenge was started (going forward it will be an automatic timer), this time we just rolled it out at about 11:00am local time.
- I personally completed the challenge at about 11:30am local time, noticed I did not get my commendation pack
- I escalated the issue up to our designer (who had the day off, so was contacted by phone), and a programmer (the primary programmer that deals with this was out of the office).
- Came up with a theory that the entitlements on the server were not updated (this is what grants your pack, as well as keep tracks of your past operations under challenges).
- Got the programmer to integrate the server configs from our TEST environment to our PROD environment (from that point forward things should have been fine)
To get the 400 people the pack who was having their problem, we checked on the website to see who had completed their challenge up until that point, some might have been missed, as I am not familar with the back end of the website. Note that the challenge data is tracked, through a different storage not the entitlement system that is why some people see they completed the challenge, but not on the past challenges.
In order to get the entitlement for those people we required sending off user ids to an external team (external to BWE) to run a script to grant those people their packs. Since this is slightly different than past challenges (before you would get it for all 3 platforms if you did the challenge on 1), it required granting it in a different way. This required changes to their script, which required a bit of development time, extra verification (both by them and us in our test environment, and in retail environment on a subset of accounts). Once it was good to go we started to run it (which meant staying late for some of us).
After friday we saw this thread began to grow, and determined that the best course of action would be to put up the help page, because the way we would be grabbing from the website was not its intended design and there might be edge cases, which cause users to slip through the cracks.
I hope this post clarifies our internal process a bit for you all. Basically nothing is "simple" there is a lot of moving parts, both internal and external. Not only that but we have our own test server and production server to try and keep track of.
this was awesome. thank you for this. I'm sure there's all kinds of rantings and crankiness around here. as assumed, it was a giant production on their end and as expected they are going the extra mile to make sure people don't ' fall through the cracks' so to speak. but it's kind of cool to have this window into what all went down in the situation. It's the first time they had run this - it's not unreasonable there might have been a few bumps.

This great piece of communication really displays a level of respect and care for your gaming customers far beyond that which I have experienced from most mp games, many thanks for this.
I still don't have my pack, but I have had this delay before and so long as I get it in the end, it's really not a big deal. I'm no Bioware fanboy (this is my first BW game), but from what I have experienced so far, they make more attempts to please their fans than any other game company I have experience of.

This.
I have huge respect for honesty. Even when I don't get the optimal results, it's good to know what happened. Because not saying what happened, just makes people paranoid.

Bryan, if it's any help with the cause of the problem when I checked my N7HQ after doing bloodlust at around Friday 8pm BST I noticed that the website wasn't updated with the bloodlust challenge the icon for it wasn't there. It wasn't until Saturday morning till the icon appeared as a available challenge on the N7HQ at which point I couldn't turn it gold as in game on ME3 it said I had done the challenge, but not on the N7HQ website.
So in short ME3 in-game said I had done the challenge, N7HQ said I hadn't.
