Bioware or anyone else,

Mass Effect 3 is unable to connect to the EA server.  After the game is launched from Origin and I have pressed any key to continue I am greeted by the 'Connecting to EA Server' dialogue box.  In the upper left hand corner of the screen is an animated 'Communicating...' icon.  That icon freezes after a few seconds, and I am stuck on the main
page for approximately 90 seconds.  I am then booted to a screen that states 'The EA server is unavailable at this time' and in about 1/2 the cases the game locks up again and I am unable to press 'OK'.  Once I get back to the main screen it informs me that certain DLC are unavailable and I need to be connected for those.

I first noticed this problem on Wednesday October, 17.  I had not played Mass Effect 3 since Monday evening before that.  I have tried modifying my firewall settings and router settings for allowing the ports associated with Mass Effect 3, but it has been to no avail.  I have tried fixing my install of Mass Effect 3 and making sure it is up to date, but that was not it either.  I have even made sure Origin was up to date as well.

There is one item of interest that I had discovered.  Upon restarting my system, or just logging off and back on, I
can start Origin then launch Mass Effect 3 and it will connect to the server, briefly.  Mass Effect 3 will show my Galactic readiness rating and map, but will freeze after connecting.  After a moment it will inform me that the connection to the EA server has been lost and I will need to be connected to have access to all the features of this title.

All attempts I make to connect by clicking the 'Connect' or 'Multiplayer' button results in that same issue I outlined in the first paragraph.

This issue has made me quite unhappy.  Mass Effect 3 multiplayer has become my go to for online gaming recently, and I am upset that I can no longer enjoy it.  I really wish and hope that Bioware or someone else will be able to help fix this issue in a timely manner.  I sympathize with everyone else who also has this problem, I have scoured the forums at it is quite unsettling.

Regards,
Snazzyfinger

Welcome to the club, and get comfy. No moderators pay attention to this forum, and EA support is useless.

I tried to play just a few minutes, but other that the fact that it won't connect, it says i need to redeem/purchase an online pass, any solutions?

You might want to try to start the game no later than 2 minutes after booting the PC after a break of approximately 1 hour which currently is somehow the only way I am ever able to get into the ME3 multiplayer.

Same issue here - was able to connect and play up to 7PM on Friday the 19th - and from that point onward can't connect to the EA servers, and getting the "redeem/purchase" button.

EA support had no idea - in fact, I had this exchanged (summarized):
Me: "Can I have a host name or IP address, so I can do a tracert to see if it is a router between your servers and I?"
EA: "Sure - after we try other things. Re-install."
Me: "What?!? That will take hours (Digital Deluxe + DLCs). It was just working, and I haven't changed anything. Just give me a host name/IP to verify network."
(after 15 minutes of him cutting/pasting stuff into our chat that didn't apply to me whatsoever)
EA: "I don't actually HAVE the information you're asking for. I can escalate this."
Me: (head to desk)(repeat)
I did manage to get some IPs via Wireshark, but was able to ping/trace to them. so it doesn't appear to be the network - at least from what I can tell.

I dropped an e-mail to an admin list - probably won't get a reply until at least Monday (sigh).

Seems like a game of Russian roulette every time a new DLC gets released on when/who it will break.

I am also experiencing this exact problem, if I restart my computer before trying to play Mass Effect 3 I can usually get in without much hassle. It'll start the connection but lose it, but it'll reconnect fairly easily and I can go on my merry way. Most times when I try to play, however, I am confronted with the "The EA server is unavailable at this time." page.

This is a problem that has persisted for about two weeks now and it's rapidly getting old.

Hi, I was experiencing this very issue earlier today. I logged in before my daily lessons and found out that the the EA servers were 'unavailable', got back home after about 5-6 hours and the servers were still 'unavailable'. I looked for pointers here on the forums and read about Yuoaman's solution. Before restarting my computer, I decided to restart my router instead.
Turning my router off and then back on seems to have solved the problem for me, at least for now. Hope this helps!

I just bought the digital deluxe edition on PC and was having this issue non-stop. Then I remembered the issues that I had running Mass Effect 1 and tried running Mass Effect 3 as an administrator. Low and behold it worked. It still takes a while for the came to load completely (odd freezing while it connects to the servers) but after about 2-5 minutes it loads and is online. I've playing in multiplayer and activated and played the DLC that I bought. So give that a try...

Same problem here. Either "EA Servers unavailable" message, or it won't synchronize to cloud when starting game, or Origin greets me with "Temporarily unavailable" message at login.
It all happens at "prime time" when I try to play the game. When I tried at midnight, no problems whatsoever.
My guess -> EA Servers issues and/or crappy network programming for ME3.

It is very irritating and all started to happen sometime during this week challenge.

Guys... Move over. :| I'm having almost the same problem... The game will load like normal but once it reaches the server list? HA! It crashes! :( It's very irritating as I was wanting to finish my Soldier playthrough of all 3 games... Odd thing tho, 1 and 2 work fine, but 3? Nope...

I even tried reinstalling... TWICE!! No dice. :( I don't know WHAT is going on with BioWare... I think they're just too wrapped up in their current pet project to care about Mass Effect people. <:( I've tried everything I could think of OR find to try...

So... Just, move over and make room for me in this club, ok? Oh... and Can I be VP of the club? LOL!

Room for one more?

Edit: So I got the "The Mass Effect 3 server is unavailable yada yada yada try again later", and then, while the game was running, I unplugged / replugged the power on my modem. Suddenly...

"You have lost your connection to the Mass Effect 3 server. You must connect again to access online features of the title."

So which is it, game? Am I or am I not connected to the ME3 server?

I've also been having this problem, first weekly but recently it has become daily. It's either the online pass or the server problem. It's very frustrating or rather infuriating. I uninstalled and installed origin but nothing happened. *cries*

I'm 100% convinced now this issue isn't with anyone's computers. There is always an issue when new content is released. Sometimes I can connect to multiplayer after 10-20 tries, which can take up to 30 minutes...which is a waste of time. At this point I would just be happy if EA even acknowledged they have server problems.

I was having the same issue since today morning and I followed some of the steps mentioned in
this thread as well as some from other threads on forums elsewhere....

This is what I did, in order...don't know if it will help anyone...just posting...

1) Marked two executable's in these directories to "Run As Administrator".
C:\\Program Files (x86)\\Origin Games\\Mass Effect 3\\Binaries\\MassEffect3Config
C:\\Program Files (x86)\\Origin Games\\Mass Effect 3\\Binaries\\Win32\\MassEffect3

2) Inside Origin, go to "Application Settings" and UNCHECK the Update to Beta Versions option.

3) Logout of Origin completely i.e. from origin as well as your N7 HQ pages.

4) In a command prompt window, type in ipconfig /flushdns.

5) Using msconfig, make sure to remove startup programs like "dropbox, google drive, and any VPN or VNC software".

6) Shutdown your PC first, Router/Modem second!!!

7) Switch off the mains and "Power On" the modem and the PC to drain any left over charge/current.

8) Now, switch on the mains and power on your Router/Modem FIRST and let it connect to your ISP.

9) Next, power on your system, and as soon as it boots, login to Origin immediately.

10) Start ME3 and Voila! Multiplayer working for me again.
