I know how to play any major class/build except this one. I know there exist a lot of builds for this guy, but I'd like to hear input of people who use him more frequently, and kind of build a consensus on what works the best, so I have something quality to experiment with. Ideas, people?

Reality is, there's no great melee class for Platinum. Too many enemies (bosses), shield/health gate too low to build out a melee class.

Better bet is to build out a durability class.

Well, to be honest, I don't see how this could be viable on platinum. I'm sure someone will correct me, but I just don't see it :D
On gold, I still think you're better off relying on guns other than melee, but I'm sure I'll stand corrected on that as well!

IDK, when I play Drellguard, I usually get by ok doing a lot of melees when I'm there.

Thanks Anno, I'll check that out.

Oh no, I like melee. I like melee a lot. Kroguard, Batty Soldier, but especially Drellguard, who I am usually seen using in Gold/Plat. :P

Maybe something like this? narida.pytalhost.com/me3/classes/#32RDLJK%400%400%40A%40%40%400%400%400%400  Dropping a grenade at your feet if things get too hairy?  Can do without the points in incinerate, I was just feeling saucy.

I have never played platinum (well oncen but it did not go well) but my favorite build for gold (or any difficulty) is 6/0/6/6/6 with nothing on incinerate.

I take all melee upgrades on Rage along with all melee on tech armour with the rest of tech armour devoted to damage reduction.

Lift grenades -> all capacity and damage

Passive -> weapon damage/head shots/weapon damage. (Rank 5 is optional)

Now you have no cooldown and can pick any weapon you want (I like Claymore + Revanant)

Nice to see some love for the poor Drellguard!
Anyway, it all comes down to what you mean by "melee build". I do not think it is possible to make melee your main mean of damage, especially on platinum. But that doesn't mean you cannot build a character which is effective at melee. I'm sure your drellguard is effective at melee, but I would definitely be surprised if you were to tell me that most of your damage output comes from that!

Not at all, but with Krentinel, as the builds on here show, it's a way to kill lesser mooks and not waste ammo while maintaining a very high DR that maximizes survivability. Plus, it's fun.

Damage output is nice and all, but high damage classes are boring. If you want high damage then just strap a Reegar on a Turian Ghost and coast to victory by doing practically nothing. But that's boring. Much more fun, IMO, to play a class in a distinctive way.

With drellguard, all that melee helps put away enemies in CQC and buy time in between charges. You should know, I think you've seen me use him a lot. :P

I won't bother trying it on Platinum, but I have a Krogan Soldier "pure melee" build that is highly effective on Gold (at least vs. Reapers).  The caveat is that it is highly dependent on mods - I equip a Strength Enhancer III, Cyclonic Modulator III/IV, and Disruptor Ammo III/IV.  The ammunition takes down shields of mid-levels, the shield boost lets you get close to them.

No wasted points in Berserker, six points in Carnage gives you nice tech bursts off the disruptor ammo and big huge fire explosions.  Save the grenades for the elites.  I haven't managed a Gold melee medal yet, but I always get silver melee medals on gold, 75+ kills, and better yet ... get through most matches without having to burn a consumable.  As long as you don't get instagibbed by Banshees you can run around punching things all day.

You have to remember to purge/fortify against elites, but you don't even need it against Marauders as long as you take down their shields before heavy melee.  I don't carry anything but the shotgun with this build, so yes ... a pure melee Krogan gold build is viable.  With the consumables, the Krogan is such a tank that it's borderline easy.

You need the new acolyte if you want to melee.
acolyte + tazer + cryo ammo >>>>> shotgun omniblade. Removing barrier/shield + staggering + frozing target makes it an easy one. It's a lot better than falcon for melee. Bring any other weapon for bosses.

I've achieve this week-end mission by wave 4 I think. The krogan sentinel is just a monster with this gun.

I was running a Krogan Soldier build that had a Revenant and an Eviscerator, but I found that I shot things more than I hit them.  Often I'd just forget to switch over to the shotgun with the bayonet, and I'd lose my melee bonus.  Or I'd switch to the shotgun, but forget to purge fortification.  Or forget to reactivate it.  Or shoot things with the Revenant.

Running with single weapon means you *have* to melee things to kill them.  Besides, my wraith IV with Disruptor ammo does more damage to shields and barriers than a similarly equipped Acotlyte X.  If you didn't know, Disruptor Ammo has a 400% damage modifer vs. shields/barriers.  Close to point blank range, take down the shields with a single shot, purge fortification, smash.

It is simply not possible to configure a Krogan Sentinel to do as much melee damage as a Krogan soldier with a fortification purge.

Although, if you're taking the damage boost of Incinerate vs frozen/chilled, that's not a bad way to go. I just have a difficult time imagining a Krogan carrying an Asari weapon.

Falcon AR is a must. The stagger and crowd-control it gives you is amazing for a melee-tank.

Slap on cryo ammo as well, and it works wonders.

Haha, I couldn't agree more. And I didn't know it was you, otherwise I would have not answered in that way, because I would have known what you meant. (Sorry if I make mad mistakes with these tenses, I'm not a native speaker!)

Drop incinerate.

DR and melee buff on Tech Armor.

Pure Rage(and rank 4 melee damage+martial artist)

Graal or Falcon with melee mod to stagger and punch with.

Put on melee gear and shield gear where you can.

And most importantly: Punch smart! Be on the move. Flank things. Know when to charge and, more importantly, when not to charge.

ps: This is for gold. I can't really say anything for plat as that grindy mess really isn't my cup of tea.
