Sup guys,
Was reading another thread about optimal weapons for squadmates and wondered about squadmate behavior with different weapons... can anyone confirm if they actually change their behavior depending on their weapon type or specific weapons?
would really like to know if they have set behavior patterns- more defensive with certain weapons, and aggressive with others? Anyone have done extensive testing or have the official word? Like what weapon would keep a squadmate like liara at the back? She seems to like charging off (especially with the hurricane, I think somebody else also mentioned this "problem" with her)
i know directing them is the best bet, but micro managing is easier with classes like infiltrator who can sit at the back and direct the battle like a general. But if I'm playing a vanguard, I'm charging everywhere on the map, and would like to know if I'd be better off having snipers cover me, or give them shotguns and possibly see them blazing in battle with me.
Squadmates weapons affect behavior?

I found them to be better (or shoot more) with certain weapons (like pistols vs smgs) but not with different weapons of the same type.

I did have an odd case of Kaidan pulling the tried and true ME2 AI tactic of rushing someone behind cover while keeping them pinned with the Typhoon but that was like the one and only time I ever saw someone do anything remotely unusual and the Cerberus mook wasn't that far away anyways.

Squadmates use different strategies depending on what weapon type they use, but not by which weapon of that type they use. Hurricane nets the same results as the Shuriken, but different results than the Claymore.
