Hey Derek,

would you guys kindly think about it, to keep the consumables after disconnects? I mean disconnects of any kind.

It is just frustrating to lose lvl. 3 and 4 consumables just because i got disconnected from EA/Masseffectservers or when i disconnect from a laggy host.

Are there any thoughts about it?

From what you said you didn't utilize Dominate in MP because it was still in development in Leviathan. But why no Defense Matrix, Defense Drone and Slam in Retaliation? I know that these powers would require some change but I know you guys can handle this.

Yes, the Asari available are considered the commandos.  The Justicar skill tree is simply the type of training available to them.

The Justicar kit, however, is specifically a Justicar.

Hey Derek

Is it possible for you guys to add some more customization to all characters? I would love to see Asari in a bikini! Oh, wait, thats to much :D But i think you know what i mean.

Also, if it's not possible, is there a way to make skin color customization more "colorfull"? For example, purple Asari doesn't really look purple to me :<

Hey Derek,

Is there any chance that the N7HQ website's data will be made available in, say, XML format? That way people can develop their own apps/web applets to display the information. I know we can scrape the data from the site itself but providing the raw data would make it easier (and reduce the load on your servers).

If you can't answer that how much testing goes to DLC weapons? Sometimes really powerful guns are released only to get nerfed a few weeks later.


The Volus are, indeed, Ultra-rare.  Considering that they are the only Ultra-rare characters, however, that will be the ones you get if you happen to draw an ultra-rare character card.

A great deal of testing does go into each of the weapons.  Weeks even.  The difficulty comes in deciding where the team would like to see each one fall and how strong it should be released at.  The reciprocal arguement is that there are weapons that have been released that really aren't powerful enough.  The issue there is that they never get the same notice by the community that the most powerful weapons do.

More than once in this thread already i've seen you note your tour of duty in the canadian air force, so give an answer to a fellow air force man (brazilian, though).

I know you're part of the QA team but has your experience out there ever been called upon or been tossed about during meetings for the game's design? I know that when any storywriter/designer does something a bit of their experiences is used to make their art, given you guys are a whole team i'm curious if you ever helped in that way.

Buried somewhere in this thread Derek has already discussed these kinds of customization issues, but I can't find it.
Off the top of my head the issues cited are twofold:
-would require new patch, huge headache in and of itself
-would apparently increase load times substantially

the load time issue I don't understand remotely. Most of the data being transmitted should really only take a few bytes, since it's all being rendered client-side. Think of the creation codes for faces in SP; those faces are far more customized than anything we get in multi player, and if your connection can't upload 1,000 of those codes in a second you probably have dial up.
Best guess: all sorts of proprietary usage data gathering, anti-cheating algorithms, host/client/server connection confirmation + cut-rate servers keep the tubes far more clogged up than they have any right to be.

I love this game, but the network performance aspect of it is the source of great rage.

Like Ray and Greg deciding to leave the gaming industry, I felt it was time to move on.  Twenty years is a long time and I was due for a change in my life.  It will always be part of who I am and I will continue to support those involved, of course.  That sort of sacrifice comes at a cost.  It was just enough for me and my family.

My favourite companion for Dragon Age: Origins was Alistair.  I just felt like he still had a good sense of humour through even the toughest times.  It's something I can identify with.

I went with the smart-alec Hawke in DA2.

As for anything Origin related, I can't comment on those.  It is specific to them and I would recommend passing your feedback to them.

The reason was a design choice.  People already mess around for long periods in the lobby without readying up.

Any additions of this nature would require a patch and a large amount of design work.  Considering how many kits are currently available, we are talking about shipping a dlc on the scale of every kit ever made...again.

I can't promise this will happen.

Hey Derek, any word on/can you ask the people who balance the powers about making the Decoy power actually...well, act like a decoy? I mean, I can see some amount of logic behind the turrets and drones not attracting melee units as they actually have ranged weapons. The Decoy has nothing but itself and a small area around itself where it can zap things or blow up. At best a few units will shoot at it while it otherwise sits there worthlessly now. Of all of the pets, it really should be the one to still attract melee units to itself. After all, it's not a random object: it looks like a player's character.
