I find myself talking a bit like Morrigan sometimes now.

Tis only natural that one would do such a thing.
Perhaps in time it will wear off, though doubtful it may be.
Twas common back in the day to speak in such manner :P

You're not alone, I was so hooked on this game when I got it that I played it every day for hours... Now I've calmed down a little, but I still find time to play the game a lot. I had a massive crush in Alistair at the start too but luckily that was watered down now. :D Doesn't change the fact that I really enjoy all the dialogue and characters, BW did well in writing them. The last time I was this hooked on a game was with Baldur's Gate, and it seems that the same charm still works on me.

The only disappointment I have with DA is the way they handle the DLCs. I would have loved to have the DLCs happen after the Blight, or pre-final encounter in case the character sacrifises himself. A sandbox to explore and finish sidequest would have been great afterwards as well. Now I just find myself leaving my favourite characters pre-Landsmeet and not finish the game because I want to play the DLCs which seems like a silly thing to do with an RPG.

I was hooked by Morrigan as well. The interaction with her, the way the relationship developed, etc. was very well done by Bioware. I was actually choked up when she took off at the end, but pleased to see that the ring she gave me communicated that she missed me and felt regret (during the credits).

Not all with Morrigan was voluntary however.... I got impatient with Wynne during the Circle Tower quest and killed her before I really knew she could join my party. After that, Morrigan was the only mage available to me so I had to keep her happy...but was glad to do it!

Up until I started looking into DAO (and grabbed it the day after Thanksgiving for $40 at Best Buy), my PS3 was mostly for my kids. DAO has got me back into games and made my kids angry by all the time I hogged the PS3! Now, I am searching for a game that will hopefully continue my re-discovered addiction to video games/RPGs. I am thinking Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, but am sure nothing will hold a candle to DAO.

Closest I think you'd get in terms of a good RP experience would be the Witcher. Its still available on steam at the moment at a huge discount so its well worth the $14.00 for it. But if you are a console only gamer.. can't help you there. Most of the best RPGs unless you are fanatical JRPG fan are arguably on the PC. DA:O plays better on the PC too, from what I have experienced myself. The ability to zoom out, ground target your AOEs and layer  them to create a "killing fields" makes even playing on Nightmare mode "easy" (relatively speaking of course) as long as you are willing to micro manage and tactically plan your battles.
Nothing feels like victory when you manage to save everyone and I mean EVERYONE during the battle at Redlcliffe on Nightmare mode.   While you do get a crappy helm as a reward, its one of those times you really felt like a damned hero.

For a long time I didn't want to beat the game cus I didn't want it to end. I've put in I don't know how many hours into it total at this point but atm I've been playing a lot less. I have two characters I'd like to finish up at some point and plans for maybe two more but I'm going to give it a ton of time before I play them and wait for some DLC to come out.

If you do all of the sidequests and everything you could before the end, and then you finish the game - you'll get a sense of completion and satisfaction. But then you'll probably be ready to start another one ;)

DA:O doesn't stand for Dragon Age: Origins...

It stands for Dragon Age: "Oh crap, I just played for 8 hours straight and completely lost track of the time"

That is awesome.  Keep it up, I will bet that people will find you more sophisticated.  You may start a trend like that episod eof Sienfeld when everyone started eating things (candy bars, doughnuts) with knives and forks.

I've used Maker's breath occasionally when things go awry.

You wanna get a life?

Get mine : full time job, wife, kids.

Now I get your free time in exchange, and I am playing DA:O, not you :P

Just kidding, wouldn't trade my kids and wife :)

Haven't finished my first playthrough, but I progress very thoroughly, put something like 70 hours into the game and only 26% of the game completed and 47% of the world explored.

Lives are WAY overrated. (pulls yet another all-nighter with Dragon Age)

I hear you. I'm on my 5th playthrough and I am home visiting the family during the holidays. I actually can't wait to get back to finish that playthrough, that's how addicted I am to this game. :P

I am grateful for all the replies.

It is nice to see that I am not the only one who really enjoys the game.

I am sad that I have finished it as now it is more of a case of "been there done that" after about 5 playthroughs but I have thoroughly enjoyed my adventure with it.

I am looking forward to any DLC and/or sequel.

I have played many many games in my lifetime but I would have to say that Dragon Age Origins is the best experience I have ever had with a game.

I got attached to the characters, laughed my arse off, got pissed a few times, and even cried a bit.

Anything that brings out that much of emotion in me warrants a significate praise.

"May the Maker bless us all."

I get attached to my character. Mostly my Dwarf commoner who started from nothing but is making a name for himself. I better become a Paragon for all the crap I'm going through or there'll be hell to pay!!!

I can't stop thinking about it either. I'm trying to get back with my ex and have supposed not spent time with her so I could play more of this game.

Its addictive.
