Here we go, I knew this thread would come.
If vampires appear I will be so pissed! I'm really getting sick of vampires being thrown everywhere they possibly can it's getting really old and boring. And if vampires are in the game I hope the vampires are freakin' ruthless.

Uh, why are people mentioning twilight with vampires? There are more vampires than just twilight, you know.

True, but Twilight just poisoned the concept of vampires for the foreseeable future. Perhaps one day we'll swing back to them being menacing and interesting again.

In the mean time it should be werewolf's chance to shine. And hey, Origins already laid the groundwork with shapeshifting mages and the Brescilian werewolves.

(I was just disappointed Shapeshifter wasn't a specialisation option in DA2.)

If they kept vampires as hideous, possessed corpses I wouldn't mind them being included. If they're changed into a bunch of attractive people wearing leather and drinking blood from wineglasses then no, they shouldn't be in the game. I miss Orlok...

Wow. What's with everyone's rage against vampires? Apologies, but I'm not even a vampire lover, yet I feel the need to step up and shout "quit your b*tching!"

Vampires are a classic monster that have been around in pop culture for longer than most of you were ever born. They've always been trendy, as well as horrifying, no matter how many people have romanticized them. Growing up in the 80’s, thanks to films like The Hunger, Fright Night, and The Lost Boys, I went to bed every night (over the span of a few months) scared to death that a vampire would come into my room and kill me in my sleep. Ha, I still remember pulling my covers up to my ears, practically asphyxiating myself beneath the comforter, because I was afraid “vampires will get me.”

Prior to those films, my parents had me watch classics like Dracula, starring Bela Lugosi, and then I watched a reboot, but instead of Lugosi, Christopher Lee played the count! Also the show Dark Shadows FREAKED me out.

Fast forward to my preteens (the 90’s) and there were popular films/franchises like Blade and Buffy the Vampire Slayer, plus a rather astounding performance by Gary Oldman as Bram Stoker’s Dracula, himself. In addition to that, Ann Rice’s Interview with the Vampire book series surged with popularity, and everyone ran out to buy their own copy of BOTH the book and film.

Then low and behold the Underworld franchise rolled around, plus Buffy was still on TV, and then they made a spin-off called Angel, which starred a vampire, as opposed to a vampire hunter.

Time to stop thinking that Twilight did anything to "bring them back". They really weren't gone to begin with. And vampires have gone through so many changes, even in the 70’s and 80’s. You don’t go from Nosferatu to Edward Cullen in one, giant step issued by Stephanie Meyer. Come on!

Also, I see no reason to get annoyed with having vampires in video games. Short of elder scrolls, I don’t see too many vampires elsewhere. You know what’s overdone? Trolls, goblins, orcs, and ogres. I mean… wow… can’t think of a better/scarier nemesis? They’re featured in way more video games and they’re BORING. Haha

“Go into that cave – kill a troll/orc/goblin/hobgoblin!” O RLY? So original!

:o

The reason I would be annoyed, and something that proponents of vampires in DA3 always seem to ignore when it's mentioned, is that vampires exist already.  Hunger demons that have crossed the Veil and possessed something are vampires.  They don't drink blood and look sexy, but they're Thedas' vampires.  People who continue to demand their idea of vampires instead of accepting what Thedas has clearly don't give a damn about the lore or the world, and that is what is annoying.

That's totally fine.

I'm just shouting out to the people who "hate" vampires because they link the creatures to Stephanie Meyer. Please! Spare the vampires from that ONE association! Who is with me?

I grew up with fear of vampires too.

*Cough* Much more than a walking wolf anyway. *Cough* Sorry, werewolf fans.

Vampires wouyld make a good adittion. See, werewolfs are creeated when a curse is made by a pwoerfull mage. The same can ble applied to vampires in DA: LORE: They would be ruthless killers and murderers. Just like the werewolfs were.

Whomever, werewolfs are rare in SDA universe, don't see a reason on why vampires wouldn't be neither.

I guessing you are using the loosest version of "nicest" to describe the White Court? I would think them feeding off sex would be more in line with a desire demon though, instead of hunger. The ones that feed off fear would be rage (maybe...), and the ones that feed off despair would be sloth.

I wouldn't mind seeing some Red Count like hunger abominations though. They walk around like normal people, but if you get them mad or hungry; they turn into grotesque bat demon like abominations.

Pity, we don't know more about the Black Court....Image IPB

Twilight is not a vampire nor werewolf movie. Its a teen love/angst movie. There are no werewolfs nor vampires in that movie. Just characters invented by a lovesick teens which happen to have remote resemblance with actual monsters.

They exist, but they're not the typical style. They're just living non-Mages possessed by a Hunger Demon.

Or Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust, which was a helluva better story dealing with vampires -- even loving a vampire -- then Twilight could ever be.

As far as I know, werewolwes aren't even technically present in Twilight. Aren't they shapeshifters? They're more Morrigan's brothers than werewolves.
Now, I want Morrigan appears in DA3 with a pack of shapeshifters werewolf at her command! Make it happen Bioware!
