Whenever the subject comes up the first response I get is...
"Cool! I like Call of Duty too."

They usually don't give a damn, (on the surface) unless that person is a gamer too, then we start nerding out. Saying that though I've met some real eccentrics, but that's for another topic.

Yeah, most of the people I meet on a regular basis are gamers, hence why they're alright with it. But I've also met my fair share of eccentrics.
Anyone remember when there was that common misconception about D&D "teaching you real life magic by performing satanic rituals."? Those chirstian groups crack me up.

Honestly, they look at me with a mix of contempt, piety and surprise. With the sole exception of gamers (of any kind).
Problem is, the media is young and most people still believe that videogames are just a toy for kids. In times, people will realize that videogames are a legitimate media as books and movies (funny is, most people respect books, but very few read them... while I read many books a year).

In my social circles, the women usually assume I mean Wii Fit or Nintendogs, the blokes think I play FIFA. I say 'no, RPGs' and they think I'm talking about guns. Sigh, I'm suffering from a shortage of geeks in real life

Too many of my friends associate RPGs with Rocket Grenade Launchers instead of Role Playing Games.

Fifa 13 is the most stable (after I installed the new drivers), most awesome Fifa game alongside Fifa 08. Everything is improved and this game is worth buying.

If the person hasn't seen a particular sticker on my car, or I'm not wearing some sort of game-themed shirt that he/she might recognize and get a hint from, the response is usually mild surprise and then that contemplative "hmm" or "huh" - as though the person needs to adjust their mental preconceptions of me ever so slightly.
