From my uncle happy as he can dump his old games to somebody, which has its benefits since he does have some good old games. The rest over the over 40s, silent nod and sign of disapprova; or disenterest.

Heh. I was interviewing a candidate for a job in my department along with a co-worker of mine. My co-worker asked the applicant 'What do you like to do in your spare time? We want to see if you have social hobbies and past times, or of you are more reclusive and anti-social, like playing video games all of the time. You wouldn't be able to succeed in this department if you were like that.'

I just kind of stated at my co-worker. He doesn't know how big of a gamer I am, I suppose. Because I pull in the second highest revenue in clients of any person in my department.

They go "Oh, I've heard about it" which translate to "I have no f'ing idea what you're talking about".

Anti-social is not the same has being asocial or solitary. Anti-social is more like being a bully while asocial it's the preference of solitary activity.

But in today society every type of personallity is a illness. You're not solitary , You're asocial. you're not in love, you're emotionnaly dependant , you're not shy , you're lacking self-eesteem , you're not happy .. You're stupid (yes I took that from somewhere lol)..

People are so confused they mix being a bully with being solitary now. So each time I hear someone saying .. ''well he`s always alone .. HE HATE PEOPLE... It's so frustrating.

Hell When I was in my bedroom reading .. My landlord was with a worker doing a job in the kitchen next door. I could hear them through the window .. He asked my landlord about me and he answered that the other neighbor said that I never ''talked'' to anyone and he answered that I was probably some kind of weirdo anti-social that hated everyone. It's amazing how quick are people to judge someone they don't know crap about. It`s hurted my feeling that day.. My landlord which I am quite friend with did not answer him. But when I met him after his job he told me that his worker was an **** :P.

Neutral responses that serve to poorly disguise their inner mockery, generally.

"NO. WOMANS CAN'T!"

This, pretty much. A gamestop employee actually thought it more plausible that his computer had malfunctioned than a woman had pre-ordered Fallout: New Vegas. When I confirmed that was right, he then went on to say, "oh, so it's for your boyfriend, right? Or your brother, or someone?"

He no longer works there. I believe I broke his brain.

Usually people just say "oh, that's cool" and change the topic. Or just chuckle and call me a "no life".

Pretty much these.

I take pride in the fact they are more insecure than I'll ever be if they need to label me with an "insult" just becasue I have a different hobby than them. It's sad for them, really.

I don’t. I refer to them as expensive software programs aimed at self awareness and fulfillers aiding with the life experience. It is after all about the journey.

They usually respond, “How very good for you.” As they break my clasp on their arm and continue their way down the sidewalk.

I don't advertise it but I don't hide it either. It's just something I do. If they see me playing a game like Mass Effect I just tell them I am playing as a space marine that shoots aliens.

They don't react at all, it's not like its unusual or any sort of big deal. I play xbox, millions of people play xbox. I don't understand the point of this, it's like asking how people react when you tell them you watch certain tv programs.

What makes you think I talk to people on a day to day bases? >>

Depends who it is when I do. Normally only my fellow gamers bother to ask me about it. Most games I buy are from game stores, minus Walmart, and the people hat work there I'm pretty sure I could buy a 18 year old sex slave if they sold them and no one that works there would care. I think only once has someone at walmart talked to me at length about an item I was buying...mainly its "wait this is on sale? Well I know what I'm buying today!" Almost always thats food items though...but yes back to the topic.

I think the only people that have had a negitive view of it have been people in prerppy groups, or some of my extended family. Also I'm sure they figured out I don't care what they think at all for the most part.

But in general with my fellow gamers it breaks down into gripping about how things are going, or what new games we want, or some kick ass trailer, sooner or later we end up going back in time to the days of the 64 and the like.

In all seriousness, that's my usual idiology on the matter.

1. Family: Vague Insults such as; "Aren't most guys your age, like, going to parties or playing sports?" "I hope you don't play none of those violent ones, them make you crazy. I saw a report." "Queer."

2. Fellow men my age: "AW YEAH DAWG ME TOO! I Love Call Of Duty! That Game Is TIGHT."

3. Women: "Aren't Those For, Like, Kids? That's A Little Immature. Now Excuse Me While I Watch Jersey Shore And Teen Mom And Other Quality Super High Brow Entertainment."

4. Other Gamers: "No ****? Never would have guess, what with us standing in a Gamestop."

Family: If it doesn't involve Nintendo or something that is instantly relatable, they probably won't be interested. Many people rave about Arcanum or Planescape on here(for good reason). If I tried showing that to my brother and sister, they would likely say "Let's move on to something else" or "Sorry, not interested." If they don't ask about the gaming world, I generally don't talk about it.

Other Gamers: Depends purely on their tastes. My brother is also a gamer, but generally only titles that have wide audiences or are otherwise well-known: World of Warcraft, Portal, and anything with Mario slapped on it. I live in a place where only the latest greatest games might be known by the gaming populace. Also not a subect worth bothering to bring up.

---

Overall, I just don't talk about it. I assume that most people(outside of the internet) don't have an interest and I'll just stick with more relatable stuff as topics of conversation.
