One of the things I really like about KotoR was how you could bypass the lockpicking skill by bashing a container open. It meant that some of the items inside were destoyed, but it was a better alternative than never getting to open any locked containers if you didn't have a skilled lockpick in your party.

I totally support warriors being able to bash open chests in DA, even if it means that some of the items within are destroyed in the process. Mages could have an alternative too. Not something cheesy like Alohamora -- it makes sense that there's a bit of a penalty for playing a non-rogue when it comes to opening locked chests. Maybe they could freeze the lock. Heck, they could even use their staves to bash.

One of the main reasons I hate playing a non-rogue is that it drives me crazy to just *walk away* from locked chests and doors, or to feel strongarmed into bringing along NPC's I'm not fans of just because they lockpick (*cough*Leliana/Zevran*cough*). I'm a completionist, dammit. Being able to at least collect some of those goodies on a second playthrough when I want to roll a warrior or mage would be a serious kindness to me and others like me.

Thoughts and ideas are welcome!

That's not a bad idea. Or maybe they could make it so warriors and mages can also take points into Lockpicking, too?

In KotOR, there is class and cross class skills system, a soldier can lockpick, but need to invest more points.

I use Carth Onasi to lockpick before Mission Vao come into my party

And sometimes i give my soldier atleast 1 Security point (2 points for 1 point) in early game

I'm down for some bash. Nothing more frustrating for all those ocd gamers out there who must "unlock all things!" in a play through even though they hate being a rogue and don't like having the companion rogues tag along.
