I have notice ever since the last patch, Mass effect 3 will crash 100% of the time when you open origin from in game, if done before the message "press F1 + shift" to open origin. This makes it hard to connect with friends, since you have to tab out to get to friends list, click on join, then tab back in. If if the mistack of open orgin in game is ever made, you have open tak maganger, close game, then wait 4 mins to start game back up again. Its so much fun.....

I am having the exact same problem. It started yesterday night and this happens 100% of the time.

To be clear, whenever I attempt to use Shift+F1 to pause the game and bring up the Origin screen nothing appears to happen, but my game locks up and I must use Task Manager to cancel the process in order to get out of it.

I have used this feature literally hundreds of times in the last three months (it is particularly useful for pausing cut-scenes when real life intrudes).

Note: Since last night the "use Shift+F1 to open Origin" notice no longer appears at game startup.

@The Drax: I didn't even know there had been a patch. How did you find out?

UPDATE: Got a quick fix for this from "EA_OriginSupport" on the EA forums.

1. Go to http://www.origin.com/download and download a new version of Origin.
2. Run the downloaded file (i.e. OriginThinSetup.exe) to install an updated version of Origin.
3. Restart computer.

That's it - easy peasy.
