Example, weapons/armour without magical stats could be welded into one slightly superior weapon (naturally you'd need to do it a forge or find a Blacksmith to do it.) Alternatively you could skill yourself for it, for example a high end skill tree in welding could lead to 3x times superior weapon with magical stats.

Infusing would be for example to take magical weapons, breaking it down and infusing the magical stats on your owen weapon/armour. Like welding you'd need an arcane enchanter or something, or even have your own skill tree for it.

And finally, a lot of the companion NPC have very cool looking weapons that they get after doing a special quests. However once you're there (at the stage where you get the quest), you quickly end up replacing the weapon they just got with something else that has superior stats. I find that to be a shame, so why not make their weapons, once you got it, level up with them/us?

Oh, and chest hair, please don't forget that :P

Skyrim allows you to break down magical items and learn how to use the enchantment on new weapons/armors. Good idea and something that would add a little extra to the game.

Aye, I probably had that in the back of my head when I wrote that about infusing.

I adore this idea. We definitely need more crafting in Dragon Age III. I missed the potion crafting from DA:O in DAII. If we can have weapon and armor crafting in the same vein as what they seem to be doing with the armor for companions and the PC, we could be looking at a system that would improve the game's replay value immensely.

I support this idea 100%.

Weapons that levels up are pretty much incredibly lame. The weapon itself gains experience?, and thereby makes itself sharper, bigger, and dripping of acid (or whatever)? It makes zero sense, and it goes against the lore of the setting in every way possible.

Creating your own weapons, and enchanting them, however....Very good idea.

Hence why I specifically wrote companion weapons that they got from their special quests.

I don't know about you guys but if I could go to a forge and pick and choose how my weapon would look, like in Dead Space 3, and the result was this:

or this:

I would praise the game to the heavens and would play it for years to come, should everything else about the game be equally as fun.

Because it destroys any reason to ever loot and craft again. I hate the lvl up stat.

It would be better if you could meld the apperance of one weapon with the stats from aother at a small extra cost like in Guild Wars 2

Again, it's the special weapons for the companions. You're telling me you didn't get annoyed when you finally got Sten's sword or Fenris' sword and then replaced it after 20 min with a superior weapon?

I didn't care much for those two particulear items as they were just using the models of other standard swords.

But I get you, but you want to keep te apperance so why not just use the suggestion I posted.

Works too. I just don't want the models to go to waste.
