Disappointing, but I can't say I'm shocked.
Bioware's never gonna let me play as a Dwarf again. T_T
Yep i'd bet on that happening too.

Does the elf needs a separate voice actor? Fenris sounds like any other humans without an accent like Merrill. If it's a city elf then I think that they don't need separate VA.KotorEffect3 wrote...
I am not really suprised especialy with a voice protaginist. I loved playing as a dwarf in DAO but I understand the decision because playing a protaginist that can be either an elf or dwarf would require them to hire up to 6 VAs just for the protaginist alone. So I am not really suprised.

Depends on how talented the VA they use is but I am guessing they are still going to want to have a human sounding different than the dwarf or the elf. So even if they use the same VA they are probably going to have them read through everything twice just for the sake changing up the accent. I know I wouldn't want my human to sound exactly like my elf or dwarf.

They do not require separate VAs for the PC if they had different races. Devs have said so. Bioware has shown this previously not to be the case.

Bioware game. 8 different species(cyborg is understandably irrelevant to voice under any circumstances), all have the same voice actor based on class. So no, they do not need a separate voice actor based on race.

And you could just say that it's just the Dalish of Ferelden that speak with a Welsh accent. A Dalish from Orlais or Tivinter could have developed a more local accent.

a pity. really. because I loved very much Dragon Age: Origins.
I was really going to think there was hope.
very well. there is no point to stay here anymore.
Yeah, and RPG totally falls/triumphs based on race selection.
That is ALL that matters. :innocent:
For me yes. race selection mean different character, different prospective. I can't have all those prospective with a human character. with ONLY a human character.
very well. I'm just sorry I've already lost the money for DA2.
maybe, when BioWare is incline to make a fantasy RPG, I would buy it.

but at least we KNOW now, right? for me, just having confirmation is somewhat relieving. i don't know about the rest of you, but i was tired of waiting to find out!
and i'll eat vanilla ice cream, even if i wanted strawberry, so long as the whipped cream and sprinkles are still in tact. because it's ICE CREAM!

All Dalish have Irish/Welsh accents.

Double-crossing Bhelen as dwarf noble beats doing it as any other race by far.
Killing Howe as a Cousland beats doing it as any other Origins by far too. It's maybe intended to have high chance to trigger, but I always have the finisher where I cut off his head with my DW Cousland. It's one of the most satisfying moments in DAO.

Isn't it awkward when his head reattaches itself for the cinematic though?

I'd still want my elf to sound different than my human even if they both have a ferelden accent or whatever there are still differences. Now don't get me wrong I want the option to play as other races but I can understand the decision to stick with humans and I think the protaginist being voiced is a large part of that.

It shouldn't trigger for Howe at all. Never has for me, thank God.

Yes, but I don't care much. I usually put off the sound as soon as I kill him, and go to make myself a coffee to wait that the cutscene ends.

Are you serious, all the races sound the same, guess what, the people voice acting all the elves and dwarves, in reality, they are human.
They have already stated that the primary reason they didn't add additional races is because it requires more work in the cinematic's and allows a more personal story, so basically, less work. I am going to take an educated guess and bet that also means that every single human in the game is going to once again have identical height's and build's.
