But seriously, I don't mind playing as a human since I only played as an Elf once and never as a Dwarf. So I'm good and content with that decision.

Ha, I was thinking more like playing a Qunari, seeing as they were vastly improved upon in DA:2.

I didn't realize implementing a playable new race, and where X is in dialogue, replacing human with elf, etc, would be a problem.

Well in the setting of Thedas it so happens that humans, elves, and dwarves, have different cultures and different reactions to each other. Simply slapping a new skin option and treating them exactly like a human is relatively cheap, but not the kind of experience that Bioware hopes to deliver.
