I also want this, with the music playing.

I cut Vigil's Keep a lot of slack because it was an expansion, but I was disappointed that we only got to see the main hall interior. Upgrades were fun though, I do hope we can do some more of those.Palipride47 wrote...

You can certainly travel and return. In Asunder they traveled a great distance from Orlais and returned. In DA2 we were gone for almost a month during the Deep Roads Expedition but we still returned to Kirkwall. Nothing wrong with having a base of operations.LilyasAvalon wrote...

Can we get a camp inbetweens for long runs from home at least? Medieval RPGs feel kinda... naked if they span great distances without an obligitory campfire.

I'd love a camp. I'd also like some conversations that can only take place at camp and some at the castle, (and some ambiguous ones). I think some of the DAO conversations, for example, would have lost some power were they inside a building, and the DR scene especially would have lost some power without Morrigan's slow walk to you from the fireplace. It's little touches that really make a conversation so memorable.

Ability to display cool armor/weapons in racks a la Skyrim.
Kitchen where I can craft food.
Bathing and toilet facilities- not necessarily to use, but I want to know if Thedas uses garderobes that open onto a moat, or whether they have outdoor privies, or dwarven plumbing. Hawke's room had a giant chamberpot, and the Circle tower mages had buckets (seriously??? In a tall tower overlooking a lake that you pour magical potion remnants into, you don't have garderobes???) but in reality many chamberpots were small, handheld, and stored under the bed for night use only. During the day you used the privy. In any case I want the rooms for verisimillitude.
Library where I can store book collections/codex entries and see how many I have left to find for the achievement that will no doubt be paired with it.
Alchemy room/stillroom for potions and/or poisons.
Rush mats on the floors.
Grand hall where I can receive petitioners and choose to help them (or not.)
Training yard where I can play a sparring minigame with my guards to improve their martial skills.
Small, cozy common room where I can play a Wicked Grace or Diamondback minigame with my companions.
Smithy and living quarters for Wade and Herren.
Living quarters for ALL of my companions, servants' quarters for servants (maybe I have a spy or a thief in my servant population, and I have to go rifle through their belongings to find the culprit!) I also want my companion's rooms to reflect the gifts I give them and the choices I make regarding their story- if I give them a necklace or a mirror or a key or ??? I want to see it on their dresser.
My own bedroom with a bed my character can actually sleep in, with a save utility built in. Also I want my LI to move into my room with me when we hook up, bringing their belongings with them. And I want the ability to bed them as many times as I want, unless story requires that it not be possible (i.e. Zevran's refusal.) If my LI dies I want to sob over their possessions.
Graveyard- if my family or companions (or my companions' families) die, I want to visit their graves. And I want to be able to put flowers on their graves, too.
Weather! Snow on the ramparts!
Bandit incursions, hire-able guards that can die (permanently) if not trained, a siege where people starve if I haven't stockpiled enough in the way of provisions.
I want to be able to buy decorations as a gold sink and be able to rearrange some furniture into slots intended for a variety of furnishings.
Servants hanging laundry and beating the dust out of rugs outside on nice days.
Either a 24 hour clock or changes between night and day a la DA2. Candlelight at night, sun streaming through the windows during the day.
Curtains (or no curtains. XD)
A chapel where my devout party members/guards can hang out and where I can trigger discussions about religion.
An infirmary where my Healer hangs out, actually healing people. Maybe even delivering babies, if such a thing actually exists in Thedas. I have yet to see any, but have hope.
For my party members that live in my castle to move around, maybe even have a schedule (as in Skyrim) where they sleep, eat, occupy the privy (no matter how much I bang on the door and demand that they get out!), practice their skills, relax, hang out with each other, etc.
Snowball fights and forts minigames in winter- a river or lake where my companions and I can sun themselves and swim in summer. Flowers in spring and leaves falling in autumn.
Random disastrous events- giant rats in the pantry, a mudslide due to heavy rains, scaffolding collapsing during upgrades.
Dogs and cats roaming around- dog kennels where I can train my hounds for war, or take them with me hunting.
HOLIDAYS with appropriate swag and decorations.
A sexy steward like Seneschal Varel.
Treasure room where I can store my gold- the more I put in, the more visually full the room appears- chests overflowing with coin, gem-encrusted goblets and plates, super-fancy dress armor.
A sock blind.
A warded room for my mages to practice without blowing up the place. Magical accidents result in a random event of demons coming from the Fade, and which requires my attention. Maybe Sandal hangs out here, too, making shinies.
Unearth a tunnel with access to the Deep Roads.
Stables, with haystacks where I can invite my LI for a fade-to-black moment.
I want to be able to buy clothes, set outfits, and store them in dressers or wardrobes. Then I can pull out my fancy dress for the masked ball I'm holding in the ballroom!
Ballroom for parties. Also a moment of dancing with my LI, instructing them if they're clumsy, or having them instruct me if my PC is clumsy.
I want to be able to interact with stuff. I want to be able to go into every room, even if I can't do anything. I want the layout to be practical and to reflect actual, livable design so that I can more fully immerse myself in the game. I want minigames, events, customization and personalization for both myself and my companions.

what happens, for instance, if we do have to lay siege to the place to get it. i have my doubts the remaining staff will all be like...sure, you just starved most of us to death and then killed a bunch of us who managed to survive, but we'll just all now be perfectly happy with the fact that you're running the place now. that has to be dealt with, one way or another. and carefully. do it too diplomatically, and some people will naturally mistake kindness for weakness and try to take advantage of it. act too ruthless, and you could end up with a revolt.
also, even if it's just handed to us (via politics or inheritance or some other method) we still have to deal with say...an angry cook who's constantly fighting with other staff for allocation of resources. ticking off the kitchen is a sure way for people to end up dead (in a worst case scenario) or just in a very, VERY bad mood. food affects morale, after all!
also, i'd like to see castle quests that are linked to the world at large. it would be cool to have to route out spies, moles, and saboteurs from within our own. or perhaps catch people who were breaking in to cause trouble.
so much potential...

I'm not saying I want all of this as a result of my class. That would lead to some weirdness if I, for example, decide to play a Lawful Good Reaver or Blood Mage. (I did play a mostly Lawful Good Reaver-Berseker in DA:O, and hope to do the same with Inquisition.) But if I can personally customize different enough castles for my different characters that it creates this basic effect, even if it's not quite to the (I think rather unrealistic) extent I describe, I'm happy.
Edit: One thing that goes a long way in this direction is if I get to pick where the castle will be, which I specifically remember mentioning as "Wouldn't that be cool?"

I suggested that we should have two hub in DA3: one is the permanent base (the castl) and one is the campfire when you travel in the nations where you castle isn't located (for example, out castle is set in Orlais and we can travel to Tevinter, Nevarra, Ferelden and Kirkwall. In the map you have to choose which nations you want to go, and after this the game opens a new map screen with different locations and a hub location. If you don't choose to travel in Orlais, the hub location will be the campfire. If you choose Orlais, the hub location will be the caste).
I hope they'll do something like this in DA3.

I'd like to have a room where you can discuss what approach you want to take to an upcoming quest. The party members and advisors can discuss what's known and if you'll take a stealth appraoch, a more diplomatic one or a more direct, combative approach, for example. I would also like the war room to have a big map on a table that everyone stands around and generally broods over.

Otherwise, I'm basically expecting the castle to be like the Normandy - it'll have a bunch of rooms that serve no purpose until your companions show up, and then they'll each hang out in a room. But it'd be awesome if they did like ME3 where they moved around and had different banter in different places. Makes the place feel alive.
Finally, one of the things I loved the most about Awakenings was when we actually ruled - passed judgment, threw parties and stuff. I'd love for them to expand on that.
