I hope it's like the stronghold in NWN2. I lvoed how you could buy upgrades and not only did it change the surrounding area and the resources you could get but the improvements all came in to play during the mission where you defend the Keep from being seized. They may have been optional but they made the mission a lot easier, there's a lot of potential here.
They had that in Awakening, basically what you described (upgradable castle-the fortress actually changed with new gates and stuff based on your upgrades- and it was attacked, though you had to choose whether to defend the nearby city, with your fortress with all your men and investments and some of your Wardens possibly being left to die, or saving your fortress and have all the Fereldans hate you). There was also some political intrigue (attempted assassinations ftw).
Vigil's Keep was one of my favorite non-companion related things in the DAA expansion. (I miss bro Anders
It they take the concept of Vigil's Keep and expand it to awesome proportions, it would be so very awesome.
And all of your companions have a "spot" like the camp in Origins (better idea, like the Arl of Redcliffe's estate), but maybe everyone has their own room, except the bro-combos like Varric/Isabela kinda occasionally hanging out in the same room, because they are talking about whatever they talk about.
And they don't flee as soon as I walk in like I'm some abusive drunken father that just got home from the bar......

A real battle is with siege machines, where you have to defend the walls, or close a breach and where you also have to give orders to your men.
You run around, surrounded by fighting soldiers, impacts of catapult projectiles (with screen shaker). That is how a defense battle should feel.
And maybe bad weather/night and when you are victorious the sun comes out and your men cheer.

I think it would be cool to have your castle (if possible) represent the faction your with, like for example: if you are with the Templars then it would have the sword of mercy at the front or something for the mages. Something like that would be nice.
NOooooooo.please Inquisition must have it`s own faction.

Also display trophies of my slain enemies. (mounting the heads of named enemies on spikes around the castle would be nice, then you could click on it and it would say "Alaric's Head" or something)
The usual, shops, defences, etc.
Peasants to lord over and disputes to adjudicate.

Use those mad skills that created such instant feelings of community in the origins of DAO and apply them to the castle and its people.

I hope for interactive stuff.Stuff to click on .
What would be nice is being able to bring things back from travels and display them , books , ogre's head etc..
Having companions living there too , each one a room decorated to fit their personality.
PNJ moving around and talking to each others ...
As long as it doesn't feel like your pc is the only living soul around and others are a bunch of bots.

Why didn't I think of that?
Also machicolations. (The holes in the floor of a castle wall that let you drop things on an enemy right up against said wall, my DM seems convinced they're called "Murder-Holes.")

I would like it to be kinda like DA:A where you had to make a few decisions and people came to you with there problems and you had to decide what to do with it. I think they could improve on it, but that is what I would mostly want in it.
This.
I hope DA3 throws in a hefy helping of medieval politics. If the PC is the lord of a castle, I hope we get something similar to what Dragon Age: Awakening did. It should be more than just a home or a place to store gear.

In the second game they had the Villa which I loved improving and even talked about how I'd like to see something similar in ME or DA on these boards from time to time.
That said AC3 has the Homestead and it's significantly better than the Villa. I love the size of it, I love that quests improve it and not just gold, I love managing my trading carts and buying surplus goods to craft into tables, barrels, and alcohol for sale to merchants I've met throughout the game.
There are a lot of great ideas happening in AC3's Homestead. And while I'm reasonably sure DA3's development cycle is too far along to take elements from this game for their castle... it surely couldn't hurt to say to the Devs and fans here to check it out.
And I love just how much the map changes as you continue through the game and doing Homestead missions. I'm not even done with the game yet and it looks like a small town. I enjoy riding the horse through the roads and woods looking at how much it's changed.

Mike says we'll be in charge of a castle in DA III.
Horrible image of castle.
Does this please you?
A section for classic romanian's public bath, A harlem with lots of mistresses consisting desire demons, seductive vampires, goddess, wenches, prostitues etc, Public arena, shopping lots for nobles, blacksmith, public library, public shool and university for children, mages, adult and teenagers and large space for entertainment purpose such as stage for drama acting and magic performers.Maria Caliban wrote...
What are you hoping to see?
Oh and military installment such as barrack, tower, drawbridge etc. We could see drunken soldiers sexually harrass the maids at night, giving proper excuses for you to smash their skulls on the streets.
Well.... this is something we could agree. I would like the option to change the castle exterior design with further expansions. And I would like to fill the castle with lots of people, commoners and nobles to make it alive.Maria Caliban wrote...
I'd like something like NWN 2's upgrade system or BG II's strongholds. I'd also like the castle to reflect your class.
